T-top shade panel refurbishment

I tried searching, little luck.

Anyone tried refurbishing these things before? Both of mine for the TTA sag, but they're original, and I'd like to keep them with the car.

I would be interested in this as well as restoring the headliner. I have had a hard time finding an exact match of the material.

As for getting the material i am not sure where, but i recovered my t-top shades in tweed to match my headliner, i first removed the thread from the sides and pulled the trim off, then cut and glued the new stuff to the foam, and then resewed the border with a sewing machine.
not really hard to do i think it was about and hour and a half to do both, but then again i wasn't in a hurry.

Parts are a real challenge for these cars. Over the years I tried to collect as much of the NOS stuff I could find. Unfortunately it was not enough! I remember back in 1997 when the carpet was still available, I should buy it and then I blew it off....

New parts which are specific to the TTA and the 3.8 are out of site when you can find them.

I have 10 passenger side only ttop shades in the original grey headliner material I'd like to get rid of. They are all new and in the box. I wish I had some driver side panels.

Dang, all passenger side? The panels are in good shape, it's just that the liner is sagging on both. Sewing sounds like something the wife would do, she made her own wedding dress - I think two measly little panels should be no sweat for her.

As far as I know they're not driver/passenger side specific.
When I put mine in there's no specific markings saying which is which and they both fit the same.

Then you have an aftermarket set. I bought mine from eBay as a lot. I asked if they were the same on this board and many people said they were, but these are not. That's why I have 10 passenger side. I even called the manufacturer looking for matching drivers' side.

As you can see in the pic below, the passenger side is a perfect fit and there are gaps in the drivers side. The shape of these is slightly skewed, and not a exact rectangle.

ok--mine fit like that too! Thought they were all like that--knowing GM's quality is never the best.
Does it say anywhere on the shade itself which side is which?

I had a set of camel colored ones from my 87 GTA all original still in the bag with the velcro covers on them. I had them in my garage for the last 8-10 years. I cleaned out my garage a few months ago and pulled them down and noticed that the liner had fallen. I figured there was nothing I could do with them, so I chucked them along with other miscellaneous third gen parts. I kept some of the stuff, but other things are deteriorating. I hate to throw this things out (especially since I plan on picking up another third gen) but I dont have the space. While I was in the rafters in my garage, I stumbled upon an old center console and aluminum inflatible spare tire. The tire had been up there for so long it was dry rotted. I didn't have the heart to chuck that this time around, but next time it'll probably go.

Car: nothing worth this space
Its not hard to replace the headliner fabric. I did it for my headliner. Your shades might use the same fabric as the headliner. You can get it in several colors at many fabric stores. $20 should get you enough to do your shades and the headliner. Just pull the old stuff off, scrape off the old glue with a brush, and spray down some new 3M headliner adheasive. You can get the 3m stuff at colliosion repair supply stores, pepboys, and even walmart. You can buy the fabric at a car parts store now too, but they want alot more for it (paying for advertising). If redoing a t-top headliner, be carefull with the inside corners, and take your time streching the fabric, they can be a pain in the a**. Good luck

Year One has an exact match for the foam backed headliner material for nearly all of the factory headliner colors.
