Yup a shame they cut it up, but I guess they only keep the rare one-off stuff. This was "just" an RS with cool stuff on it. Not like the 1-off detroit autorama stuff.
They should have made 50 or 100 of them.
Mark.

I thought there was still 1 left myself from what Ive read and the magazine articals. I copied this from another site. "edit: actually maybe his site ^ I didnt notice his name :P"
"Here you will find the 1992 Collectors Edition Camaro list. In this list you will find pages pertaining to the The 25th Anniversary Special Edition Prototype which was what Chevy was proposing to produce instead of the Heritage Edition. It was to be called the "Collector's Edition" , the Camaro that never came to be. Consisted of a Corvette 275 Horsepower engine, Corvette ZF 6-speed transmission, etc. It would have been one great Camaro. Learn about it here and why they DESTROYED them all before production except for 1."
Anywho just thought id add my 2 cents.

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
All photos added.
Part numbers on plenum is:
10077151A
8DE86 I believe is the casting date of Dec. 8th 1986
Part number on intake base is:
10088002A5
Also has 08197 as well
Runners marked:
A on upper plenum section
B on forward paired port
C on rear paired port
This is also the only documented set of this TPI intake on the internet and it now resides here at thirdgen.org.(would love seeing the other owners do something similar) I hope you enjoy it even with my sub par photo skills.
I know of two complete intake/plenum/runner setups and one that is intake and runners only. From a couple folks there may be another complete intake setup that sold on ebay a few years ago. 89onlyZ51 on corvetteforum has the other complete setup. C409 on corvetteforum has the intake and runner setup minus the plenum.
All available threads with any information or pictures on the internet:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=292194 Original thread where I found the intake
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...e-intakes.htmlFirst post looking for more information
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-p...intake-fs.html Intake base and runners for sale
All pics and most information are in this thread itself(aka the one you are reading):
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...n-intakes.html
This is all the information I can locate on the internet and talking to the two other people who have this same setup. If anyone else has anything to input on design/factory/prototype/etc, please contact me.
Thanks
Jeremy

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
That is so cool. I wonder if that was supposed to go on the "new for 87" 350 TPI setups. It would have been soooo much better in the f-body vs fox body wars...
It also looks to have two right side runners like SLP has been doing for the last few years and a lower corvette intake.

It could have even have been a proposed OTC Dealer conversion, but when SLP stepped in they said why bother.
It is pretty cool nonetheless. I know the runners I have on mine that are just 1/8" larger Diameter increase the area by about .5 sq inches. or about 10% I would bet those increase the area of about 33% or so...

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
If you are still looking for someone with contacts at GM to help figure out the stories on the prototypes, you might check over at MiFbody.com and look up Brian Meissen (owner of the site). He's a Senior IT Auditor at GM and seems to have many contacts there. (He even managed to get the 2014 Z28 on display at the 2013 MiFbody Meet & Greet BEFORE it was released to the press.) I'm thinking that if he can't offer any insight, he might know someone who can.

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
Reviving this old thread because I just came across it looking for info on my intake. As Jeremy says, I'll have to get some good pictures of it uploaded for you all.
What I find VERY interesting is that my base has the same part # as Jeremy's - 10088002 AS with 06307 cast below that, BUT my plenum has part # 14081006, which is the same as the production 85-88 TPI plenum. Also, mine does not have the date code cast as numbers/letters. Mine has the little "clock dial" symbols. Even cooler is that the year is 87 but the other two dials are set to zero (I think hard to see the plenum is still mounted to the runners/intake). The part # and date on the plenum lead me to believe they were pretty darn close to going to production with these!

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
At first glance, I thought it was a different casting, but upon closer inspection, you're right - it does appear to be a modified stock plenum. It's very well done, though, and not just opened up like the one that was for sale on corvetteforum. I can only seem to upload 1 picture. I'll try more later.

Re: Prototype Thirdgen Intakes
I was talking with a guy that I made a recent Ebay purchase from and he has info on who built the runners for the 92 RS Heritage prototype... I'll reach out to him and double check the info, he said they would still make them but are very pricy..
