Looking to buy 1988 GTA tomorrow...

Hi all

Looking at a GTA locally and wanted your opinions...

1988 GTA
Black with black interior
Hardtop car (love that... hate T-Tops)
350
Digital dash (hate that... wish it was analog)
Leather Seats
70,000 miles

paint = very nice, would rate it an 8.5 out of 10
interior = very nice, would rate it an 8.5 out of 10
undercarriage = super clean and rust free, no winters
wheels = excellent
rear spoiler = cracked and warping

Overall the car is very nice. All it needs in order to be exceptional is somebody like me to give it a complete and professional detail, replace the rear spoiler, and a few basic maintanence items.

What would you pay?

-and-

What is it's value on the market?

Thanks

PS: I looked everywhere on the boards for a "general section" and couldn't find one. I don't know where else to post my question but in the "resto" section.

I signed on to research the same question that you have! Sounds like the car you're interested in is pretty nice. What is the asking price? Did you check the NADA price?

I found a 90 GTA last weekend that needs some minor TLC and the seller is motivated, under $2 grand (maybe not a good thing?). The NADA prices were a lot higher that I expected for the GTA's. Not being all that familiar with the GTA's or Trans Am values, I also turned to the thirdgen boards looking for help or advise.

So, what is the asking price of the car you're looking at?

In Michigan you would expect to see a 6K to 7K sticker price from an individual these days.

What would I pay? as little as I can then try to turn it for profit

Where is that graphic with the little dude holding up signs that say:

"This post is worthless without pics."

With every car, it's how much would you pay?

Just sayin',

I have yet to pay more than $2000 for ANY of the 3rd gens I currently own.

I have paid an average of $930 for my cars... (including parts cars)

I just found an 89 GTA locally. 50k, one owner, black, L98, T-top, tan int. Id say it is a solid 8 out of 10 car.

Asking 6,500 obo.

If I had room for it, lol. Id offer 4,500.

Thanks for the replies.

He was asking $6500, I bought it for less.

Very nice car, happy with it...

PS:

GTA-Jim...

I picked that username because I like both cars (actually I like ALL cars) and there was Fiero GTA too.

I sold my Fiero this summer, here is the auction...

I couldn't disagree more. Pictures give general observation.

Detailed text description tells you what the car REALLY is.

It's much easier to place "market value" based on facts, not observations.

Just sayin'

WOW 92RS...

You passed up a mint condition / show quality black GTA for $4900???

Are you nuts!

I guess we all learn the hard way. I passed on a few cars myself over the years. Two of them were no-brainers and should have bought them on the spot. Live & learn.

Thanks George I appreciate the generous offer ...

Give me $25K and you can have my entire collection, parts cars and all... THat includes my Show 87 Formula, my 2nd Yellow 87 Formula (TPI/M5/T-tops), my 87 Formula 350, and my 2 parts cars, I would probably throw in the extra parts to boot.
