Got a great Deal!

Since there is no general discussion board i figured i'd post in restoration. The vehicle i found is an 84 camaro that has a blown engine, it needs paint and very minor interior work. The question is since it is very solid (especially for a michigan car) i should buy it, the least he is taking is 400 bucks. now the question is, is it worth buying with the blown motor, or should i try to talk him down a bit. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a decent price, especially if there's no rust. It never hurts to try and negotiate either.

my friend bought an 86 z28 for about that much. pretty solid but it had a macco paint job. his engine was blown too. someone with the origional carb'ed 305 tried 2 make it a 13 second car. he did it but blew it up with the nitrous. lol. id say see what u can get him down to. if u have 2 settle for the 400. good luck

If its not a Z28, Id try to talk him down some more. I wouldnt pay $400 for it. The last 2 thirdgens I got, I paid $40 for the IROC (perfect body and good interior), and the 83 TA I got for free (rebuilt motor and trans, perfect body, needs minor interior work). Both of those cars are rust free AZ cars, with under 100,000 miles and clean titles.

edited for the same racial slang. Do I need to close this thread? scottmoyer

Your in AZ, were up in Michigan, anything that is clean is desired around here...

A good shell for $400 is not a bad deal in my opinion,

But keep in mind if you want to make it into a show car you will still save money to get one done for $8000... I guess it depends on how much you want to put into it, and how nice it is and how nice you want it.

I bought a 91 Z28 for 450 a few months ago. It had all sorts of electrical problems, some dumb idiot hit the front end. The paint is fading, was this a good deal?

A Z28 would have TPI, so yes you could sell a 305 TPI for at least that, if its a 350 then you could probably ask 1000 for just the complete engine, Harness and ECM

By front end do you mean body or suspension? If its body I have an extra nose if you need it.
Looks pretty good from that angle too

It is a real Z28, not a RS... The whole front end was messed up, that would include the headlight assembly, the nose and a little bit of the front frame...

Most of the fromt parts on a RS should interchange with the Z28

Yeah, 87-92 everything is basically the same. Except trim level stuff such as grills and the lower spoiler.

Here's a better view of the damage, but wasn't enough. Apparently, the goof troop dumbass who sold it to me screwed up the fuel injection system and it had a very bad short which my engine did not have *****...

Excluding the front end damage, that ones in better shape than the one i'm lookin at. Thanks for the replies, kinda gives me a baseline for pricing. I think its a good deal, otherwise i wouldn't consider buying it.
