Just curious, I bought a set (front/rear) and the door panels from an 89 GTA. I don't know if I should sell them or use them. I'd hate to use a set of RARE seats ... it's not for an F-body.

I'd say they're pretty unusual... 4th gen firebirds used basically the same seat with a different headrest and there are a ton of them in salvage yards. If you dont' want to use a rare seat, get a set of 4th gen seats.

As I understand, the Ultima seats were part of the GTA package and the only third-gen that got them.

I have them in my '88 GTA.

You are talking about the articulating lumbar seats. Every GTA trans am had them. ALL of them. They are pretty easy to come by right now. You can get a set for 300 complete. Thats the front 2 seats and the 2 rear seats. So if you like them, Use them!They made them for 6 years! Rare they are NOT.

Yes they were in all GTA's, but how many were black and leather was my question.

I have yet to see a set of leathers for 300 bucks, well that did not need to be recovered.

There were 816 GTAs equipped with black leather interiors in 1989..... out of 8,470 total cars built.

That's less than 10% of the total built for the year..... which qualifies as rare in my book.

Thanks, Mark for the kind words about the cars...... I guess you could say that 1988 was my favorite year for several reasons: graduated from college..... got the first brand new car I ever really wanted (the Red one)..... met my future wife.....

Now I'm getting all teary-eyed..... *sniff*....

My production numbers are all from a Pontiac insider who befriended me through the GTA Source Page, and was kind enough to put in computer time at GM getting the numbers for me on his own initiative.

Good friends like that are hard to find.....
