$800 is a good deal unless the cars trashed.
check the VIN, the 8th digit is the engine code. It'll either be G for a 305HO, or H for a 305 4bbl. CFI will be a giveaway since its not carbed.

I used to have a 86 Recaro TA. It had the H code LG4. and it overheated constantly. The damn fan doesnt kick on till 230* and then shuts off at 220*, and those TA's didn't have very much room for air to go to the radiator through. and mine only had the single fan and a dinky radiator. I don't know if the HO had the single fan. I would get a Hypertech Thermomaster chip and stat and fanswitch. Made a big differance on my 'Roc.

If you don't buy it, e-mail me!! I'll buy it sight unseen! I had an '85 Recaro T/A (black/gold trim, tan interior, t-tops, 305 HO, 5sp ~~~ one BAD ride ), but I lost it in a divorce
In addition to the listed "things to look for", you HAVE to make sure the air dam underneath the radiator is intact! Without it, anything else you "replace" won't help!!

An H.O. Recaro is a nice find! Just make sure the interior is in good shape or the recaro version won't be worth much (ever see an upholstry bill for leather?!?).

84TransAm: I'm still pretty sure there were't LG4 Recaros in 1984 because I have yet to see one. Yours still is not a recaro however because you do not have the Y84 recaro package, nor do you know it's a Recaro for sure (Recaro cars say Recaro all ove the seats as afore mentioned) and you could not answer my simple question last night.

On an important note: Drew, I told Mac about your misprint in the updated tech. The LU5 did not exist in 1984, it was dropped in 1985 and the last line should read "L69 and LG4s were the only availble engine"....just thought I'd say it again because it hasn't changed yet.

For what its worth I know there are errors sprinkled throughout the tech data. I typed it in one night, was up till about 3am. Its better than nothing but its just a rough guideline.
