Your speedo has been replaced. Here's a breakdown, year by year:

1982 - 1984 Dual pointer 85-mph on all Camaros.
1985 Single pointer 85-mph on all Camaros.
1986 85-mph on all Camaros except late year Z28's with TPI (145-mph).
1987 85-mph on Sport Coupes, RS's and Z28's (with and without the IROC-Z option) with the LG4 305 (carb). 145-mph on Z28's (and IROC-Z's) with TPI (305 & 350).
1988 - 1989 115-mph on Sport Coupes, RS's and IROC-Z's with the L03 305 (TBI). 145-mph on IROC-Z's with TPI (305 & 350).

All 82-89 Camaros are cable driven speedos, the same with 82-86 Firebirds. 90-92 Camaros and 87-92 Firebirds have electronic speedos.

Most of the 305 automatic cars will have the lower speedo. The 350's and 305 5-speeds usually get the 145 MPH speedo.

My theory, I think all the IROCs
that came with 15" wheels had the 115mph speedo. When the 16" wheels were specified, then the 145mph speedo came along with it.

Yes Dave, I think your car is rare.

According the the Camaro white book the 115mph speedo dbuted in 88.

in '88 the 15" Z/28 styled aluminum wheels were standard on the sport coupe and the IROC-Z. the 16" (restyled) aluminum wheels were optional on the IROC-Z and my '88 sport coupe had the 115 mph speedo. but Then I put one out of a '86 iroc (w/ the 145 mph speedo) in my car.
