Does anyone know what an IROC-C is?

I have an 85 Camaro with a multiport fuel injected 2.8L V6, 4-speed automatic tranny with overdrive and (i think) limited slip rear diff. The interior has t-tops, cloth, no tach, dummy lights. The decal on the door says IROC-C instead of -Z or nothing in this case (being a 6 cyl) I just wondered if anyone knows what the heck this thing is! I can't find any indication that this car actually exists. I've seen two others in my life, both black (like mine) so I know it's not just a fluke. Any help?

Got a picture? Never heard of such a beast. Seeing as how you have a 6cyl, it can't be a Z car or an IROC. I think its just some stupid sticker someone slapped on the car because they thought it looked cool.

As far as others, it may have been a sticker craze or they went on clearance and a group of camaro owners bought them up.

I've never seen one. So here's my WTF?

I'll try to get a picture up as soon as possible. I went to the dealer yesterday with a VIN and they said they would research it for me. He said he had only seen mine around town but commented on the fact that all three were seen in this area. I also got the address of one of the other owners with the -C sticker, I'm going to get his VIN and see... I'll let you know what's up.

There is no such thing as an IROC-C. What you own is a 1985 Sport Coupe. This is evidenced by the V6 and the base instrument cluster, both were never available on the Z28 or IROC-Z.

Apparently, the decal was available somewhere, maybe a shop and was applied to your car. I say a shop because that would explain why you've seen other cars with the same decal -- the shop would "sell" the owners of the other cars to install it because it would look "cool".

There was probably a decal shop in your area that had a special on IROC-C decals or something. There is no such thing as a IROC-C.

Sounds like somebody visited Trim Line. For a couple of bux that kind of place will put anything you want on the side of a car, they don't care if it's factory or not.

sounds like those stupid "boss" mustangs?? Ive seen so many that have the big boss writing and then when you look at the frount fenders it says 4.6l GT wtf? If you know what I am talking about then you know that the boss decals say (BOSS 5.0) what a bunch of bull. why don't I just put firehawk on the side of my car just above the formula writing.

Sounds like an owner or dealership applied sticker. RK Chevy in Virginia Beach VA was selling Z82 Camaro's! They applied stupid looking Z82 stickers to the lower door area of V6 powered 4th gen Camaro's. I think hoping stupid people wouldn't notice and think they were getting a Z28.

I agree, I bet it was a dealer in your area doing their own little "edition" of the camaro. they probably ordered a few black ones and had these stickers printed up. they might have had them special ordered with a limited slip and who knows what other stuff and put the stickers on them. Lees Summit Ford (I believe) did this with mustang GT's in '85 in the Kansas City, MO area. They ordered them with an HO 302, put bigger jets in, either ordered them with a lower gear or put one in in the shop. then they put their own "dominator" decal on it. Folks around KC know what they are, but only a few and not really anymore. that's probably what we have here, It makes sense to me.

it probably isn't but there was a "california" iroc that was specially offered i think in 1990. they were only made at the van nuys plant. they were built iroc-z's but with no decals plus they had some other special features. but IROC-C is the "C" for carbureated? just joking.

The California IROC was 1985 only.
