I just bought a 88 Firebird 305 TBI. I filled it up and noticed that the gas guage is all over the place when I drive. I don't drive it hard or anything, but it shifts everywhere. Does anyone have any history, or tips on how to fix this problem? It is begginning to annoy the hell out of me.

 

Late model 1LE cars had baffles in the tank to help with the gas around corners.....other than that, all the fuel gauges move around with acceleration and braking

 

My fuel gauge indicator NEVER moves on really windy roads or during acceleration, does that mean I have a baffled tank???

I think you indicator might need replacement...
