Identify these seats please!
these seats are in my new 85 IROC. I am almost 100% positive they are the originals. The build date for the car is 7/85 if that helps any. The outer parts of them is some kind of leather or vinyl, and the middle is cloth. has anyone ever seen them? does anyone know the RPO for them?
thanks for your help...

Those are 89 to 92 style seats. Not sure about the leather and cloth combo (if thats leather). There was a year where they did half cloth and half leather. Definatly not 85 seats!

are you guys absolutely positive those are 89- up seats? Im finding it extremely hard to believe someone replaced them. the car has been sitting in someones backyard for 16 years, it seems awfully strange that someone would take the time to go through and swap seats out. If they aren't original, what seats were available in 85, with grey cloth? this is extremely puzzling to me...
thanks for your input so far...

Those seats came from either a '88 or a '89, these years were the only years that leather and cloth were combined, optional leather seats in '87, seat trim was all leather and had a different design, 90-92 were all leather. Chris
They are 89-92 seats. I had red leather in my old RS with the same design, i replaced the red leather with grey leather from an 89iroc. So i'm going with them being from an 89.

hey here are my seats out of my 1990 IROC. if this helps at all. i hope it does. but yours doesnt look to have the headrest that moves up so i was going to say they were stock. look up your options on your build sheet in your console to see if you got custom seats.

RARE-ROC,
your seats look very similiar to mine, except for the seat belt loop on the head rest. mine are the older style. I would be able to figure this out very easily if i had a build sheet or an RPO list, but its not in the console. Unless they put them somewhere else in 85, im out of luck. Does anyone know who i have to talk to to get a build sheet print out? cause then we could all find out for sure what the hell these things are. They're power too if that helps any, and they might not be leather, they could be vinyl. i know you all are dead sure they are 89 and up seats and they very well might be. Im gonna talk to the guy i bought the car from and see if he ever replaced the seats. Oh yeah, one more thing, on the bottom of the back seat cushion "7-84" is imprinted into the foam. Not sure if that means anything either. thanks for your help everyone....
EDIT: RARE-ROC, do your back seats look like this? sorry i know the pics are terrible..

Zupman,
The seat pattern you have was first seen in 1988 Camaros. If you'd like a pic of original 1985 seats, e-mail me and I'll scan one for you.

Zupman,
I'll send you a couple of pics via e-mail shortly. I have two from the 1985 GM Camaro brochure and one from 1988.
Keep in mind that all the different levels of interiors were offered on all Camaro models. So when you say IROC-Z interior, that really doesn't mean anything. It was possible to get the base no-cost interior on Sport Coupes, RS's and IROC-Z's as well as the optional custom interior.
So don't rule out the possibility that your 1985 IROC-Z originally had the base interior (with integral headrests), not the optional custom cloth. The striping pattern on the base seats were atrocious (in my opinion). It's possible that a previous owner absolutely hated these seats and replaced them with 1988 - 92 custom cloth seats, as your pics indicate.
Do you have any pics of your door panels? The base interior received molded plastic door panels. The custom interior had cloth inserts identical to the seating. If they were not changed along with the seats, it would indicate which interior (base or custom) your car originally came with.
Willie

hey here are my back seats.
hope this helps.
and i personally think you have the original seats. look on the inside of your door, and see if you door say august of 1984 being built. then the 7-84 would match up perfectly. and those would be the stock seats.

RARE-ROC,
It says 7-85 on the door.
I just found another sticker above the other two that says "Silver Medallion Delivery" and then it has a bunch of writing under it that i cant make out (sticker is worn) would that be anything significant? or is it just another sticker? I'm kinda starting to feel sure that they are the newer ones, except mine aren't split in the back (probably an option), because Willie sent me a brochure pic of the 88 costum seats and they look identical in front. the back wasn't shown. Anyway does anyone know anything about this "Silver Medallion Delivery" thing?

hey man from seeing the history of this IROC. i would say that they are original. bought-stolen-bought-stored- and now you own it.
so i would stick with them being stock. but willie knows more than i do, so. he has been doing this longer. and the split back was an option.
but if you had a car for three weeks in 1985. would you have changed to seats from a 1988 ( not possible they werent made yet), and it says that the car has sat for 16 years in the back of that body shop so. i doubt they have been changed.
i think you just got a really well optioned car in your hands for a great price and really low mileage.
you hit is big on this pot dude. keep it going .. and we all are still waiting for more pics.

The sticker with the silver medallion delivery was applied to the inside of the drivers door to all '85 and '86 Chevrolets when the dealer completed the pre-delivery inspection of the vehicle, it was also signed by the technician who completed the pre-delivery inspection. maybe if you look under one of your front seats you will find a build sheet tucked in the springs, that will tell you for sure what year the seats are. alright i talked to the guy and he gave me the real story on it. No the interior and speedo are not original, it all came out of an 88. This was not what he told me the FIRST time, but owell at least i know. im still looking for a build sheet for this thing so i can make it original again, anyone have any ideas as to where to look? i already looked under the carpet in the back hatch area, and obviously it wouldn't be in the seats, any other thoughts?

I've heard others talk about them being found on top of the gas tank. Where up there, I don't know. Mine was handed to me by the original owner so I didn't need to look.
