85 firebird tail lenses
on my 1985 firebird...i have the vent style tail lenses...they do not have the bubble look of the newer ones...rather that vent style look if you can call it that...people have told me that in 85 the lenses weren't the ones that i have...and in the firebird history...there were new ones in 85...i'm a little puzzled and need some help
JP, 1985 was the last year for the "vent style" taillights on the Firebird and the first year for the newer style, rounded bumpers. It was also the last year without the lovely high-mount brakelight. I remember ordering my '86 and being surprized by the different taillights. After being so thorough about everything else, I completely overlooked these in the brochure.

Here are some pics of an '85. Disregard the highmount brakelight he's got under the wing. That is definitely not correct, but the taillights are.

Here's a pic of an '86 (no, not mine). Unfortunately the high mount brakelight is correct on this one.

Well if you have a base model firebird you have the correct tail lights , 85 was the first year for the grid bubble tail lights on the trans am , the fire bird , base model came with the flat style tail lights same as all 82-84 all models tails , in 85 the trans am and the Firebird S/E got the new style tail lights

I own a 1985 firebird which I know to have the STOCK taillights, and they are the same style as yours, the "vent style".
Here is some info which is accurate. I hope it helps you:
The Firebird S/E and the Trans Am got "smoked" vent style tail light lenses from 1982 to 1984. They were nicknamed "smoked" because the plastic was tinted dark red and dark grey (for reverse). Starting in 1985, the Trans Am and Firebird S/E had the newer bubble type.
The base Firebird got the same vent style lenses from 1982 to 1985, but they were not "smoked", they were regular red in color, and the reverse light area was much smaller than it was in the "smoked" version, and was white, not dark grey.
