Need info for restoring Wisc. state trooper B4C

I've got a '91 B4C that will be undergoing a complete restoration within the next couple years and I want to start digging up any information I can find. It was a Wisconsin state trooper car. The car is in good condition now but I would like to bring it back to it's original condition when it was still in service.

The car was originally blue with black side moldings and I don't believe it has any other markings other than it said "State Trooper" on the back bumper. The car had antennas mounted on the roof and on the top of each quarter panel. I would like to know what size and style antenna was used in each spot. Also, I don't think the car had a light bar but I would think it had flashing headlights/taillights and possibly some type of light on the dash. The console is filled with holes where different things were mounted and I'd like to find out what was there.

Basically, any information I could get about how the car was equipped when it was in service would help. More than likely, I won't be doing much until 2007 so I made sure I gave myself plenty of time to dig up as much info as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting the Wisconsin Highway Patrol and asking them?

It's not like B4C's came with all the stuff from the factory, it would vary depending on the dept that used the car. It's also pretty unlikely anyone here will be able to tell you how the car was configured.

Yep, they're on my contact list as well. I know posting here is a bit of a long shot but you never know where you may find somebody who is familar with them. That's why I gave myself at least a year to track down all the information I need. Hopefully, I can find out nearly everything before I even start on it.

I remember those blue Wisc state trooper Camaro's running around back in '91-92. I seem to remember there being "State Trooper" on the sides of the car too. I can't remember for sure if they had light bars but I think at least SOME did.

Contact an equipment outfit in your area. Radio installation is pretty much a monopoly as far as EMS, Police & Fire go, they ususally just run with one outfit for obvious reasons. They will be able to tell you what was used during that era and may even have the equipment in the parts bins. They should at least have the ant's. Show em a good pic and they will know for sure.

A friend and his family own such a facility and are a Mototrola dealer. One bonus of visting thier shop was I got to see what the undercover cars looked like. They install MDT's also.

Interceptor, did all the cars have the markings on the side? You could barely see where the paint was faded on the back bumper where the "State Trooper" stickers had been. However, I couldn't see any sign of anything ever being on the sides of the car. The second picture has the three antennas in the exact same place mine were. I don't know if they were all like that or if that may actually be my car.

Here's a picture of the car now. By the way, it's not for sale. I'm working on getting at least one of each of the rare cars so I've definitely got to hang on to it.

LFN AT U,

Man, I can't remember exactly what they looked like from first hand experience. But when I found those pictures on the web it refreshed my memory. As far as I can remember, I think that the ones I saw always had the State Patrol emblems on the doors as seen in the photos.

If I were you I'd call the WI state patroll headquarters in Madison and ask to speak with the officer in charge. Either that or I'd stop in at on of their headquarters with the car and try to get a conversation started. It may be that the Wisconsin State Patrol has a historian that keeps archives on this sort of thing. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

Thanks.

Care to add some rare race cars to your collection?

I'm assuming you must want to get rid of your Player's cars. I actually passed on the opportunity to buy a Player's series IROC around seven or eight years ago. Unfortunately, I'm really not looking to add anything now. I'm working on getting a building done to run my business out of and hold all my cars as well. That's where all my money is going to right now. Right now I've got three different storage garages to hold them and it will be nice to get them all at home.

Yes a place to store cars is probably the better place to start. Part of my problem is storage ... lots of cars to buy.

If your in the market for a Player's car, drop me a note. I usually know of a few for sale.

Mark.
