Hey man, I don't know, but if you hear of a 1982-1990 Trans Am or GTA in the 1/18th scale please let me know!
Thanks
Mike

Well, one of my main obsessions is 1:18 diecasts. I have nearly 300 of them in my garage, many of them Camaros and Firebirds. The only 1:18 thirdgen diecast done so far is the 1982 Camaro Z/28 by SunStar. This diecast was released in January of this year in red, white, and dark blue. The Indy Pace Car is due anytime. I wouldn't hold my breath for the next thirdgen, as it'll probably be a couple years, and it'll probably be an '85 IROC. That is just my guess, there is no information out there on any new thirdgen releases. That means you are stuck with 1:24 plastic models for now.

I am big into 1:18 models too, specifically the American Muscle line from Ertl. How can I find the '82 Z28 from SunStar?

MTR Enterprises is great for purchasing your diecasts through. I've been dealing with them for years, they are great. I'm pretty certain that they are the largest diecast dealer online, and I know for a fact that they are the best place to pre-order upcoming diecasts as they always fill their orders.
There are other good places too. Visit the diecast muscle board at Diecast News. Many of the dealers hang out here, as do a lot of collectors, and some of the manufacturers (or their representatives). This is is almost exclusively a musclecar/american car board. If you want to know what is what, or whats coming up this is the place.

I DID see a 1/24 die cast IROC about 6 or 7 years ago, but I've never seen one since.

Thanks for the info Blue502! I am aware of how draining the hobby can be, moneywise. That is why until now, I have restricted myself to the American Muscle ones I can get at Toys R Us!!

There was talk last year of doing a 1:18 diecast 1989 20th Trans Am, but I guess nothing ever came of it. I was contacted by a rep from one of the companies (GMP, I think it was) and questioned about the potential volume for such a collectible, but have heard nothing since.

I have in my possesion a 1985 camaro Z28 1:18 die cast scale model from Johnny Lightning. I think it's actually an '84, because (correct me if I'm wrong) it has the air intake lookin thing on the front ground fx

I've got all of the Johnny Lightning matchbox-sized cars. They are all cast from the 82 pace car mold, but painted in a myrad of different styles. I've got a couple of the 82 pace cars, a couple 82s painted like the pace car but without the lights and decals, 3 red 87 IROCs, 2 or 3 black 89s, and a yellow 85.
