i have 7 overhead consoles, 6 w/ flashlights. but not one flashlight works
does anyone no how to get the flashlights working, ive changed batterys and even cleaned up the inside metal peices. i would like to restore these so they will be ready to sell oneday. thanks
Check the bulbs, clean the contacts, and rebend the contacts till they contact. Its a simple circuit. If the bulb doesn't light its a bulb, a bad contact, or dead battery.

I'd like to snag a couple of them too if you're planning on selling.

make sure your ground is good. and just clean all the contacts and make sure they are touching and are good. its like Drew said. i didnt even know that a flash light came in the overhead console. heck i dont think i have ever seen a thirdgen with the overhead console. but my experience has shown that there isnt much else to it. heck if you want to and it doesnt cost all that much rewire them all and sell them as rebuilt. I've sold a half dozen or so of the consoles. Frankly, the flashlights are an engineering nightmare. I thoroughly cleaned all the contacts after removing them from the housing, then lightly hit them with a Dremel. All worked fine when I shipped them, but my guess is that that is no longer the case.

its a funny thing someone refreshed this post. because about a month or so ago i walked into the garage one a hot day and saw this little light. i walk closer and its from one of the flashlights. i thought it was weird so i stuck it in the house. came home later tried to turn it on. wouldnt work. oh well i may sell the full consoles w/unworking flashlights.
Where do you get the bulbs for these flash lights? All the screw-in bulbs I found were for single batteries. I put these in and it blows them as soon as it turns on.

Hate to bring this to the top, but Friday night I was bored and had stumbled across one of my worst overhead console flashlights (I have three of them) and decided that I better try making it work since I posted on here that it'd be easy. Well, two hours later I had three working flashlights. The worst of the bunch had to have the bulb drilled out, and all of the brass contacts had to be heavily cleaned since they'd corroded to shades of blue and green. After going thru the process of making the lights work I'm sure that any of these flashlights that isn't physically broken (cracked) should be repairable. If anyone has a light they can't make work I'd be willing to repair it for a small fee. I've got bulbs, etc on hand, so thats not really a problem. Anyone thats interested can email me directly for details.
