RS Histroy questions

Was the Ralley Sport always boring? I'm just curious if it ever came with a hood that wasn't flat, like with louveners or something?

How about 2nd gen RS with the split bumper and cateye marker lamps?
I think the 3rd gen RS has and understated sleekness. Not a bunch of gaudy bolt on's

GM just though that they needed something between the base and the Z28.Increased looks over the base without the cost of the performance parts on the Z. A good idea that like most things at GM just got watered down over the years.

The RS was literally the base model. Not exactly boring, when compared to other thirdgen offerings. Appearance wise its no worse then the Z28, IrocZ, etc. Performance wise the thirdgen RS's were substandard.

The RS only became the base after the bean counters got a hold of the camaro line. The 1st and 2nd gen were a step up from the base. Man I loved those hideaway headligths on the 1st gen RS !!!

While its true that the 1st and 2nd gen RS's weren't base models, this is Thirdgen.org not first&secondgen.org. Technically the early release RS's that were only available in some areas wouldn't have been base model cars, but that really gets into technicalities.

Without the 1st and 2nd gen there would be no 3rd gen.I'm just a old guy who had both when they were new. And helping out someone who was'nt old enough to be car shopping back then when the RS badge had some meaning. (not alot I'll grant you)

Hugger Orange, White Vinyl Top
Cowl Hood, Z28/SS Stripes I think
350 V8 With black interior
