First year for self-Aligning rockers?

I head that 1988 was the first year that chevy used self-Aligning rockers...is that true? Would that mean that all pre-88 camaros used "Regular" rockers, or non-self aligning rockers?

Yes, it is true. This makes the 1987 non-self-aligning centerbolt heads a one year only design.

My 89 had self-align rockers with the slotted holes in the heads to guide the push rods also. Must have been left over parts or something, sure didn't make sense but it was factory I believe.
