Introduction

Hey ive been lurking on these boards for awhile just reading some of the info just decided to start posting recently. Thought i would introduce myself and all that jazz.

Im 28 years old from the ky region. I went to autoshop and worked for a shop in my old hometown for awhile. Many of my family and inlaws are old dogs in body/mechanics/custom work. My wifes step dad is in one of the KY corvette clubs and has some really wicked vettes.

I have in my time owned in order, 68 mustang (ford yeah but i loved the car) all stock inline six 3 speed manual, 75 duster with fully tricked out 225 slant six ran 14.2 in the quarter (not bad for stock tranny and rearend), 83 regal with a 73 olds 350 rocket and custom built TH350, 93 camaro V6, and now i have a 96 S10 that im planning a v8 conversion for sometime next year maybe.

Now for the reason ive come here. I was talking with some guys i work with about cars and what not and it came up one of them has a 83 Z28 that he was about to take to the crusher. Being that ive always wanted a 80's style camaro i asked about it. He told me it needed to get out of his driveway (was his wifes car but she screwed it up and got a new car) and if i wanted it make an offer otherwise another third gen gone forever.

I went and looked at it and overall its a rough car but seems solid frame wise. Some small rust in one of the quarters that needs fixed and a small hole in the front floorboard (i hate kentucky for its rust). No visible rust around any of the structure areas in front or rear though. Looks like the drivers window had a small leak that caused the floor rust. I banged all around the areas that where showing rust with a screwdriver and didnt find any spots other than that spot that gave way.

The motor is rough and most likely needs a full machining and rebuild but transmission should be fairly solid. So most likely the stock 305 carbed LG4 should get yanked and a respectable 350 should take its place.

The interior is in pretty good shape the only things i seen was carpet needed cleaning in the footwells and the drivers seat had a rip in what looked like vinyl.

The front bumper was hit enough to bend up the inner support but not much no actual internal support damage. It needs some love though it got a small break near the nose. The passenger side has a hit in the door/fender that could possibly be saved with some effort but could also be reskinned.

The only part that made me cry was the hood it was a factory fiberglass that came apart from the frame at highway speed flew off the car and was run over. It is currently crappily put back together and riveted to the frame to hold it on.

I have made an offer and all im supposedly waiting on is for them to get the title and i can take her home. Its a project for sure but i dont see anything that cant be handled without a little love and cash.

I really hope the sale goes through so i can join up in the legion of third gens if not then oh well i guess ill have to smoke the ricers with my s10 when i get the conversion done
