Thirdgens in the Caymans

I really don't know where to post this little anecdocte, but did want to share it. If the mods need to kill it, so be it.

I just got back from my honeymoon on Grand Cayman Island, in the Caribbean, and was very surprised to have seen three thirdgens. My wife claims that she spotted a fourth, but I didn't see it myself. For such a small island, and one that I found has a large Japanese car culture, I was pleasantly pleased to see that many thirdgens.

Anyway, I spotted a decent looking black RS, a ratty primer gray and red Iroc, and a very well maintained yellow '91 or '92 TA convertible with some aftermarket chrome rims.

I wish very much that I had pics, but these cars were spotted while driving, and I just didn't have time to photograph them.

CLEARLY!!!! We need a thirdgen.org funded trip to the Caymans. This is strictly for historical purposes! DATA collection and fact finding.

Hi Bull, Congrads on the wedding! When I went there over 2 years ago after the Hurricane that just hit, it was a mess, what about now? I did not see any, just a lot of weird cars, did you see if the drivers side was reversed like most cars there? Thanks! Andy

Hey Andy, there is still a lot of rebuilding going on because of the hurricane, and a lot of dead/knocked over trees, homes with plywood on the windows, but I think that a lot of stuff has been fixed already.

On the thirdgens I saw, I didn't get a chance to check out which side the steering wheel was on. As you say, they drive on the "other" side of the road and a lot of their cars have the wheel on the right, but I also saw a lot that had the wheel on the left.

I second this. irocnroll89 will collect the facts and do the general chit-chat, and I will selflessly volunteer myself as the official thirdgen.org photographer at no charge.

...also, Shawn and I will have no problems if you all want to make Aruba one of the stops along the way.
