History / Originality Got a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

How much would you pay?

Colour is perfect for me---rather have a 5 speed TPI (not avail until 87 I know) and T-roofs aren't a big deal.

But saying that.....low mileage T/As are very hard to come by in Canada.

Sounds like a great condition car. I would much rather pay for an original car thats close to perfect then some beat on used car that needs work.

If I could get him to $10,500.....

Think the car is worth close to this?

Pontiac Trans-Am

not much info there, just a pic...

I agree nice color though. What's he asking? I think that price is rediculous, unless it's been stored in a hermetically sealed bubble. That's how much that car cost brand new, and it's not exactly a collectors car (yet.)

I'd keep looking for your dream car.

you guys are over looking one thing....or perhaps unaware.

In Canada--F-bodies cost far most then in the US. We have less then a 1/10 of the amount produced. I scan the US listings and CDN and 25-50% more up here is the usual reality.

Saying that....14K is nuts....not like it a 1LE/Firehawk/TTA.

10,500, maybe 11K--if its showroom shape. But yeah I'd kill for hardtop, 5 speed TPI--and probably have to go the US to get it.

you think i'm not aware of canadian pricing for 3rd gens?

he's asking $14k? It's not too far to go to look at it, might as well. It'd have to be showroom condition to go for $11k. I have a feeling no one in their right mind would buy that car, no matter how nice it is, for over $8000. Realistically.

The people that pay over $10k for an old muscle car want it to be either showroom original, or fully restored, and either way has to be a very reckognizeable old school muscle car. '60s mustang or camaro, Torino, chevelle, etc. That's all that'd go for over $10k, as the rest just aren't worth the $$ invested.

Either way, a 3rd gen isn't going to go for that price, he'll keep dropping the price as he doesn't get any calls on it.
He's in Edmonton, nobody there has $14k for an original 3rd gen, they've got lots of ratbagged 3rd gens there, but not a lot of really nice ones, and they few they have, aren't being bought for that much coin.

With just the picture to judge by there is no way to tell you what it's worth. A $200 hoop with a Maaco paint job would look the same at that distance.

Edit: Pontiac Trans-Am - Edmonton Cars For Sale - Kijiji Edmonton is the address to the full ad. If everything he says is accurate (low miles, NO A/C) then it might be worth a premium. Even so that's a collector price, and not the dollar amount you'd want to spend if you intend to drive it.
