What size are stock spacers?

What size (how thick) are the stock rear spacers that came with the 16" wheels?

didnt come with spacers offset is factory. None of the factory rear wheels need spacers. If your putting 16's on you dont need them for the rear or the front. only the firehawk 17inch wheels would need spacers and only on the front i just bought some and thats all i needed.

I think the stock spacers may just be for 91-92 Camaro 16" wheels. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few people ask about the spacers for them in the B/S/T section. Could be wrong though.

I'm getting 17" wheels but the way they're setup I need probably 1/4" spacer for the rear to avoid the e-brake cables because of the way they come off the calipers and supposedly I need at least 1/2" for the front to clear the tie-rods. I can't afford to spend $100+ on spacers but I don't want to get the cheapo universal spacers either.

No spacers on my 89 stock 16s, I looked into a set of 17"s and needed a 1/2" spacer.

The 'spacers' are really just thin 1/8" thick plates that go between 16" aluminum wheels and steel drums on the back of some thirdgens. The general conception is they're there more to keep the aluminum from reacting with the steel drums then they are to space the wheels. Cars with aluminum drums and the disc brake cars don't have them at all.

Stock rear spacers were on drum brake cars with the new 16"wheels and were .187 thick. In all fact most were disgrarded over the years because they were not needed.

. That said, as always with GM's craziness, my 85 IROC with rear discs had the spacers (which I no longer use).

The use of the front spacers on the 17" Ronal R15 rims was probably to do with the fact that the rim will usually rub the lower ball joint in the front. Add the spacer and they do not rub...

Since the Firehawks started with the 1LE brakes they were offset about 1/4" further than the regular 10.5" standard brakes. THerefore the need for spacers was probably not needed. I might be wrong, but I doubt that they used spacers on the Firehawks.

If the spacers were only 1/8" thick it won't really help me. I was hoping the stockers would be the 1/4" I need for the rear wheels.

As stated before the factory spacers were generally found on cars with rear end with iron drum. The idea was the difference in thickness between the iron and aluminum drum or rear disc. The front factory wheels had 0 mm offset and the rears had 16 mm positive offset.Look through the stickys at the top of the Suspension Catagory for explanation of what you may need. Also in the Tech Section you'll find a link ( http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.html ) that explains wheel offset.

Was it for the early cars or something? I had rear drums on my 87 Formula and the offset was built into the rim... Of course it might be because I had 16" rims.

My '83 MSE has factory 1/4" spacers on the rear. I had another '83 in the past that had them also.

THats really odd, I do not remember having spacers on either of my 83's... The Camaro has drum brakes and the trans Am had disc

Personally I do not know why they did not simply make the offset the same all the way around... unless they were using an axel from another car or something to save money... this is really new to me.
