Disc Brake Pedal?

I've noticed on my Disc Brake pedal that (at least in my 87 IROC) there is a logo on the pedal that says Disc Brake in a little circle. Every replacement brake pedal I've seen is missing that. Does anyone have any idea where I can get a pedal that will replace it?

I saw in Classic Industries Camaro magazine, that they have '67 pedals with two kinds of mounts for the gas pedal, firewall and floor, and they look to be the same shape, and they have a brake pedal with a chrome button inlaid that's engraved with "Disc Brakes". Anyone know if these'd fit?

"HELP!" section at an auto parts chain... Pep Boys, Autozone, etc...

Not 100% the same, but very, very close...

Well, this is the History/Restoration forum.... And I did highlight the little "Disc Brake" logo quite heavily. I know I can find a replacement pedal. I just want one with the disc brake logo that's correct for the car. And if I can't find that, I guess I'll try to fit the 67 pedal.

I know. That's why I replied. It is almost exactly like OEM.

The font for DISC BRAKE is ever so slightly finer... but it's 99% there...

Sorry for the lousy pic... but I know this is the style you mean...

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were just telling me to get a regular brake pedal and call it good. Odd. All the one's I've seen were just regular textured pads. I'll go look around. Thanks for the tip, and apologies!

Check with the local dealer parts dept. There's a chance they still have 'em in stock.

Some have the disc brake logo, some don't. Most are the honey comb pattern.

Not in '87 they aren't.

Just for the sake of argument, I just checked mine and it has the logo.

I was stating that all '87's had the logo... just to clarify.

I was looking for the same thing for my 82. My car has the logo and I wanted the same, I found one at a local wrecking yard in like new condition. The front of the car was all smashed up which is why it was in like new condition I guess.

No, not all '87s... mine doesn't have it. So I'd have thought maybe it was a Camaro-only thing, but the above pic is from a Firebird. So apparently it's an automatic transmission car thing.

Mine doesn't have a honeycomb pattern either. It's just a simple horizontal-lined pattern, no logos.

Hmm, interesting... both my '87 TA's had (well, still have, but I sold one of them) the disc brake logo... they were both automatic cars, though...

I'm not sure on the 5-speed cars like you have, because I haven't owned one... but maybe that is the difference... not really sure... I do know it's a smaller pad, so I'm not sure they would have gotten the logo anyway...

I think it has to do with whether you have four disc's or just front disc's.

I owned an 85 z28 305 tpi auto with drum rear, had the honey comb brake pad.

I now have an 87 Iroc 305 tpi auto with disc rear, has the disc brake brake pad.

I have an 86 sport coupe, disc/drum auto with the 'disc brake' logo on the pad.

I was agreeing to the extent that my car, an 87 with 4 wheel disc has the logo pedal. That's not saying all 87s had it, but mine does. Kinda like a survey answer.

Both disc front/drum rear here, too...

My '83 Z28 has factory 4 wheel disc and has the honeycomb pattern pedal pad.It must be one of those things that came down to bids/suppliers.I remember when having the disc brake emblem on the brake pedal was a big deal. How many have driven a car with 4 wheel non-power drums, lot's of fun...LOL.

Hehehe the first thing I did to the two cars I owned that had the disc brake pedal was switch them to the honeycomb pattern. The disc brake cover just looks out of place to me... On the other hand it looks right at home in a 1980's Caprice.

Pedals I KNOW personally:
86 - LB9/A4/Rear disc - "Disc Brakes"
87 - LG4/A4/Rear Drums - "Disc Brakes"
87 - L98/A4 - "Disc Brakes"
87 - LB9/M5/4 Wheel disc - Nothing pedal too small
89 - L98/A4 - Honeycomb
91 - LO3/A4/Drum brakes - Honeycomb

I therefore suspect that in either 88 or 89 GM changed vendors to save a few cents.
