There was POSITIVELY NO 350 cars made until 1987. It's a fact and nearly everybody on this site will agree with it. However, there's always one moron who insists they were made and wants to argue about it.

I don't want to start trouble but.....

I have a 1986 issue of AutoWeek that has a black 1986 Iroc-Z on the cover - with a 350 TPI. No A/C and I think they mentioned only 1000 would be made - something like that. They did a road test on it and everything....

Cars were MADE - and at least were lent out to the press for use - but they were not available to the public.

Of course in '87, the 350 became a popular option.

Re: 1985 Iroc with a 350?

only 1000 would be made
Which of course, THEY WEREN'T.

There's a BIG DIFFERENCE between what some magazine predicts "would be" done, and what ACTUALLY GETS DONE.

There were actually 50 86's made, with the 87 drive train installed in them, for emissions certification. They were not sold to the public.... same as those samples of any other model of car wouldn't be sold to the public.

So to answer the original question, NO, there were no 350s in F bodies in 85. PERIOD.

If somebody is trying to sell you one, run away. No telling how many other ways they're trying to rip you off besides just that one.

Thanks for the clarification on just 50 being made. I think we all knew that they never did the 1000.

IF (and again, I am saying IF) they did do 1000 and were sold to the public with no A/C - I'm sure they would be highly sought after.

I think we all agree - there were some made in '86 - they just never got out to the real world....

and yeah DEFINITLY none in '85!

...Sorry that I didn't read the stickies. I didn't realize that this wasn't an open forum where people could express ignorance. There's no rule against asking redundant questions as long as they pertain to thirdgens, man. I was asking a quick question before I left the house, hoping that someone would be kind enough to reply; which someone was. I just didn't think to check the stickies.

So if you find my thread stupid or horribly redundant then just let me be a moron next time, okay? Cool.

Re: 1985 Iroc with a 350?

lmao, i got into a arguement with a kid at my school on another little tidbit. he was trying to convice me that you could get a 350 with a t-5 from the factory if you special ordered it. i bet him 50 bucks to show me a car with an actual vin number and rpo proving this. haven't heard from the kid since. then again he thinks his v-6 mustang is the "bees knees."

Hey don't ever feel like you can't ask something. Some of the guys here like myself don't mind a new member asking newbie type questions. Besides sooner or later we will run out of things to talk about if nothing is ever repeated.
