Original Trim Colour

I want to paint the hood louvers on my 89 IROC. What is the colour I can get and where can I get it from.

Will a semi-gloss black from Home Depot or Parts Source be enough or do I need to go to the dealership.

Need help................thanks

Re: Original Trim Colour

I would think any semi-gloss, matte black, or even flat black would do the trick. I'd just make sure its heat resistant and won't fade in the sun. I'll let someone else chime in who actually repainted them.

I'm pretty sure that OEM they're molded in black plastic. I'd probably use a decent quality black spray paint in whatever type finish you think will look right. When they aren't treated they're a semi-gloss, when you wax them they're shiny. Take your pick.

Re: Original Trim Colour

Go to the parts store and get a spray can of duplicolor trim paint. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/trim.html. It's the correct black for trim. Adam :-)

Re: Original Trim Colour

The link states that the paint is flat black. The trim on the car is supposed to match the headlight pockets which should be a semi gloss finish. I'd check on the match of this paint before buying it.

Appreciate the info guys..............Thank you.

Any tips or special instructions for sanding? I was thinking of just using a 100 grit and then spraying on the black.
