Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

The spoiler looks like it is the original. The car looks clean...

$4500 is a better buy than $5700 obviously, but in realit I have seen less go for more in some places... If its worth it to you then its worth whatever your willing to pay. These cars are apprecaiating, and this car inparticular looks like a keeper, if its as clean as it looks... Clean 20 year old cars are getting hard to find....

The ONLY thing that I have a problem with is it has the Automatic, its not bad but it would have the "peanut" cam. If it was a 350 or LB9/M5 I would say its worth every penny if its as nice as you say...

I will suggest that you get underneath the car, inspect it closely, look for the Decals on all of the fenders (87 was first year). There should be 9 of them.

Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

well it does have original spoiler and it is in need of beign replaced and the car has been repainted before in spots only because of fade i checked and rechecked body panels and underneath the car for any sign of an acident and saw nothing. on the passenger side under the door strip u can see its fading a little but not bad and the mirrors are fading it looks as the whole car was repainted except the doors and mirrors so idk maybe it sat outside and they were faded at time of repaint idk but if i do decide o get it first thing im doing is purchasing a cover for it and one for my 86 when its painted

Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

TO be honest, you might walk around the car and start making a list of EVERYTHING that needs to be changed or fixed... Start with $10,000 as that would be the MAX right now for that car in perfect completely done condition, and then start making deductions...
IE:
Spoiler $500 (after shipping) Add $300 for paint
new carpet: $300 + installation

just start taking things off, if they let you drive it, take it to a bump shop ask them quote out the items, do the same for the interior, then you can reasonably state what the car is worth...

Granted $10K is a bit on the high side in the current state of economy but it would give you a starting point. for a 70K survivor its not all that bad though as most 3rd gens are pushing 100K or 150K

Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

You can't, or more accurately you cant find a NEW GM one...

When they were last available I think they were around the $1500 range... THat was in around 1998 1999... The spoiler I mentioned would be a place like Hawks, they make fiberglas ones, They are pretty close to looking original. Although they spears are slightly thicker... Unfortunately they are ALL this way, it is like someone made an original Fiberglass rear spoiler and then everyone else copied that one... Although they look pretty good...

One thing that I can say about the fiberglas spoilers, 1) they are lighter, 2) I can always spot them at a car show, they don't have any bumps in them... I actually have a next to perfect Black textured spoiler which was removed from a car in 1985... The ONLY problem with it is one of the very tips was broken off...

Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

only interior thing thats ad is dash cracked a little other than that its very nice inside i did drive it and it runs perfect nice and smooth felt a little odd at first but mainly since ive been driving a 4th gen soo long and my thirdgen ive just driven it around the block a few times on a bucket but the ca runs and drives perfect. paint and body is good but not perfect like i stated but if i were to get it painted and new spiler ect i could prob get it done pretty cheap since the guy i know thats doing my 86 is doing it for material cost since i am a good friends of family an help em around the shop

I personally would pass on the car unless you can get them to 3000-3500. You can get a near mint GTA for 5900.

well ive passed i got a cal about someone selling a 82 t/a and they want $500 since he needs money because of baby on the way and all car does is sit. 350 swap cammed stalled hooker headers hard top red black interior aftermarket wheels body stright interior close to perfect i think its a good deal even if i cant get it to run car trans and rear and wheels are worth more than that.

Re: might be getting a second 3rdgen!!!

Yeah just take a good walk around. My 83 only has 26k original miles but could use new t-top seals, has a THIN gas gas stain streak below the gas door (might be able to get it out), has a slighly worn driver seatbelt, has a quarter sized rust spot on the driver front wheel well (front side pointing towards the front of the car) but its not coming threw the paint yet. One TINNNYY cut in the clear coat on the back bumper (impact area).

Not really enough to affect the value of the car when you factor in the miles, the fact thats its fully loaded, the money in it, ect ect. IT HAS A REAR WHIPER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD LOL!

Will I ever find another one thats THIS NICE, fully loaded and this low of mileage even stock let alone built to the teeth? I REALLY doubt it.

You have to factor that in also. Ask you self if you think you can find a slightly nicer one with roughly the same or less miles for the same price range.
If you think you can keep looking.
