In 91 and 92 atleast Pontiac attempted to add them on the doors. Although most of them were quickly broken by clumsy feet. Perhaps they could be added to a Camaro.
Shouldnt be eating in the car anyway

I had a similar experience as well with hot coffee.

I went to my local parts store and bought 2 types of cup holders. One hangs off of the window ($1) and the other slips in between the seat/console ($3). The second one has 2 cups and is more sturdy. Not pretty, but at least they work. TGO Supporter

Do a search on "cup holders" there must be a thousand pictures of different set ups that members have come up with.

That dew is funny, wow I would have punched the dash ( I did that once in my 1st bird becasue I was mad in traffic and cracked it, bought a replacement and learned ).
I do not know what car you are talking about, '91 Formulas have cup holders on the doors and mine are still strong, tight, and new looking. I put coffee there 5 days a week, spilled a few times hitting the brakes too hard, but the hole is big enough where the fluid drips in the cup holder and not the carpet.

I think we all forget...
Before 1990 there were hardly ANY cupholders in cars unless you bought a VAN, Minivan, Truck or SUV. The first vehicle that I can recall that had cupholders was my dad's 1978 Chevy Van.
My opinion is cars are to be DRIVEN not a place to eat & drink... I have gotten used to the cupholders & such but I really have no desire to put one in my Formula's I won't let people eat, drink, smoke or anything else that might have the slightest hint of damaging something...

Only drinks that enter my camaros are the kind with a secure twist cap like a soda bottle. You can lay them on the passengers seat and if they fly around at least they wont spill all over

Good thing my little girls don't like the Firebird, my truck has 20K and is just an absolute mess inside.
Has anyone succesfully added 90-92 cupholders on 82-89 F-body doors? That would be interesting to see.
Re: one thing i hate about 3rd gens
I agree with John. Prior to the 90s, a car was transportation, not the kitchen or bathroom! Granted, women have been using the car to put their makeup on for many years because the car has mirrors. Get rid of the cup holders and maybe people will stop eating and drinking while they drive.
Some of us that got our licenses in the 80s or before have seen a major decline in the skills of todays drivers. Today, we have GPSs, cupholders, cell phones, iPods, etc to distract us and take our attention off the road. One last rant, "hands free" for the cell phone user will not help, it's the conversation that needs to be lessened. The drivers are focused on so many other things that the road is no where near as enjoyable as it once was.

Re: one thing i hate about 3rd gens
The 97-02 center console has 4 cupholders and bolts rights in the exact same spot. You may have to do a couple extra things if you have an automatic, a thirdgen camaro, and/or power windows. With a 3rdgen dash it looks stock. On the manual one, I believe a 32 oz gatorade or powerade can fit in it in the 2nd level of the center cupholder. A normal size aluminum can can also fit in it but it would have to be in both levels of the center cupholder. The manual center console can be used with a thirdgen automatic shifter.

Here is mine in the lower right of this pic. I don't have a passenger one and that is a good thing. Rarely use this one but it is nice to have.

I got a friend like that too, he is always wanting to cross his legs and play with buttons on the dash... (fortunately he is kind enough to remove his shoes)

soultion to all your problems
i personally do not see the need for couple holders, as someone else posted, i just make sure it has a cap.. and i just set it between my door and the seat in that little area, stays fine unless i have to suddenly break, and it doesn't move around as much as it would if i set it on the passanger seat.
and when all else fails and i'm doomed to a can, i just hold it iwth my shifter hand as i shift through the gears

it would have been nice from the factory. i can only drive my car once every two weeks because of the price of 93 octaine. i like to drink coffee on my way to work, so next time i'll put my sugar and cream in before i get in my car. it's an auto ,so i can hold it while i drive. i guess i'm just use to my truck.

A local here in San Antonio made a how to on the cupholders for those of you who don't smoke in your camaro. Check it out.

Yeah, I was pretty mad when it happened but it's pretty funny now.
I agree with everyone else though, I don't drink anything in my '92. If I feel the need to drink anything while I'm driving I drive my Liberty.

On mine, I use the cup holders that are meant to hook onto the top of the door panel. But I hang them on the side of the console by hooking them into the ash tray opening, then closing the lid. Never had a spill yet.
