Saw this ad posted locally. I've never heard of anything like it, what do you guys make of it??? Seems legit enough, but maybe my knowledge is limited.
"1991 Camaro Players Challenge Car (1 of 32 )
Price: $8,000.00
This Camaro was built for the Player's LTD/GM Motorsport Challenge Series races. It is an original factory and purpose built race car built by GM to run in "showroom stock" racing Eastern and Western Canada and some US sites. This is a documented RPO R7U Camaro. It came with the following performance options; Fog lamp delete Aluminum driveshaft (JG1) Performance exhaust system (N10) (dual catalytic converters) Special deflected disc shocks Aluminum spare wheel with smaller spare tire (N64) Larger (11.86 inch) front rotors with Girlock or PBR Australian built HD front dual piston aluminum calipers Special swinging fuel pickup in gas tank and special 18 gallon baffled fuel tank for fuel pickup down to .5 gallon reserve to prevent fuel starvation in hard cornering This car is currently a restoration project, considering offers. More than trying to buy it (personally) i was referring to the historical aspect of it. Ive never heard of such a car, so i was inquiring about what this was.... (player's challenege, etc....). Was it chevy's version of the firehawk or something? Or a variation of a pace car? or....?

It was designed for the factory racing series. R7U cars were built for Canadian racing. Just as the description states. They are 1LE cars.

Re: (1 of 32) Camaros
That is a R7U Player's car. The fellow started a complete restoration on the car. Pulled the engine, detailed it, added the seal markings and so forth. It's a 1LE R7U.
Looking at the VIN, it is a 1990 production year car, so it is 1 of 65 made that year. The 32 were built in 1991. (Remember the 1991 model was built over two production years).
Mark.
