Umm colors werent really different depending on where you lived. California didnt get pink irocs. The same colors were available everywhere but some were more popular than others. In 88 there was an orange color, kinda like SOM. I dont know the code but its a nice color, you dont see alot of them. In 92 there was Jamaca Yellow for the birds, another nice color that you dont see much of.

I don't have any pics right now, but 2 of my favorite colors have been Hawaiin Orchid (purple, on several 92 heritage editions) and Jamaca Yellow.

Where did you get this idea of rare paint colors? Manufacturers don't have special paint for different regions. The same colors offered in Florida were also available in New York, Minneapolis, Southern California and Seattle. There were certain colors available for one year only, though. Yellow, Orange, Grey, purple haze and shades of green come to mind.

i have no idea about third gen f bodies,, or GM for that matter,,but ford has had regional packages and colors since the 60s....its not that out there to think it possible ...(example high country specials, california special, tarheel blue (only on 67-68 in DSO 21 which was charlotte area ford dealers) 2000 f 250 and 350 had a texas truck special that got a two tone silver and mineral grey color only to texas dealers etc) anyway again i have no idea aboyt thord gen f bodies but some manufacturers do have regional colors and packages...

Yeah, I have that book with pink GFX Iroc too. Sooooooo many errors in that book it's disgusting.
As for "special" colors, well I've heard of this too, and it WAS based on region as mentioned above. I've never looked into it enough to have facts on it, but I've certainly heard of it on more than one occasion.
A year or two ago, a friend of a friend ordered a brand new 06 Silverado with Sunset Orange Metallic paint. I don't remember what was involved on his end, but it took about 9 months for him to get it. When I saw it, it had about 50 miles on it, and sure enough, it was orange, top to bottom. What's to say regional managers couldn't do something similar???

That orange Silverado was a national limited run color. It was available for 1/2 year only. As for the IROC with pink GFX, that was a homemade job, not a factory job. The 3rd gens did not have special colors based on region. They had special cars, like the 85 California IROC, but it came in regular production colors ad the 82 Pace Car.
