Is it worth restoring of should I turn it into a race car? here is a list of the rpo's from the glovebox, is it anything special? Re: 85 IROC anything special
She is a heavily optioned first year IROC (does the VIN on the SPID match the car's). What condition is the body in and does she still have the matching numbers (engine and trans) drivetrain. This is the main item looked at in considering restoration.

Red (code 75) is a very popular color especially with the black (code 19C) custom cloth interior. She has the top engine option ,LB9, for '85 with 4 wheel disc brakes (RPO - J65) and positraction (RPO- G80). If she's a complete running original IROC you could find a bare bones car for a track car IMHO. But what really comes to is what do you want to do with her.

And I forgot to say welcome to TGO

Re: 85 IROC anything special
Thanks for the info. yes the spid matches the vin #. The car is all original except it's missing it's orig. block, I have all the tpi parts. I am trying to find out how many 1985 iroc's were made with the G92 performance axle. I can find that info on all other year iroc's but I can't find it on the 85's. does the camaro white book have this info?

Re: 85 IROC anything special
I didn't see G92 in your listing. G92 was not given that year from what I see. G80's very common. Over 15000 put in Camaros in 85.
Worth it to put back to tip top shape in my opinion, save her!

Re: 85 IROC anything special
You're most welcome and any other questions I'm sure can be answered here. That's great you have the correct SPID for your IROC as we all know what happens to console lids. But ,as Dman pointed out, I don't see G92 in your RPO list. I haven't found a production number for it in '85 but it will be a total for all Z28/IROC. Before '87 ,or was it '88, G92 was just the optional performance axle rato that varied year to year and differed between auto and manual trans (my '83 has G92 and it was a 3.23 ratio for my LU5/700R4 combo). According to your SPID list your IROC has a 3.42 ( GU6) axle ratio. The right hand axle tube will have the code ( 8PR ) and build date/plant stamped into it on the inputside next to the center section (if it's still readable). The only definite way to know what gears are in her now is to pull the cover. The fluid should be changed anyhow and don't forget the limited slip additive (is the tag still on the rear cover).

Re: 85 IROC anything special
I looked at the rear end today and it has the 8PR and I think C060. Thanks for your help with this. I read on this site that for some reason you could only order the G92 performance axle on the IROC-Z in 1985. it says that G92 is the 3:42's. I don't know why G92 isn't on the spid. Thanks again

Re: 85 IROC anything special
You are most welcome as I'm still learning myself. As to G92 production for '85 I still haven't found any numbers. And it's interesting that it's not listed as you obviously have an optional ratio.

Well the 8PR is the code for 3.42 locking (G80) in '85. So it's most likely the original rear since the code matches your SPID. But again the only definite way to know the gear ratio is to open it up. And you have factory 4 wheel disc brakes (J65).
The C060 would break down
C - Build Plant - Buffalo
060 - Build Date - 6th or 60th day of the year. The other 0 may be a D indicating day shift or is there another letter in the code line.
D or 1 - Day Shift
N or 2 - Night Shift

Re: 85 IROC anything special
Here are some pics of my spid. I found these numbers in a march april-edition of the united states camaro clubs mag called camaro corral, it's filled with a lot of 3rd gen tech. I see you have a 83 so here is some 83 info.
