Last Van nuys Firebird??

Here is a local car being offered as the last Firebird made at the Van Nuys Plant. Not my car but interesting anyway. (sorry for the Ebay post)

Re: Last Van nuys Firebird??

The seller is three fries short of a Happy Meal. The auction is for a 1990 Firebird but the Van Nuys,CA factory produced Camaros and Firebird for TWO more years! The VIN sequence number also doesn't seem high enough to be the last 1990 Firebird either.

I seem to recall Leonard(who owns the last 3rd-gen Camaro and toured the plant that day) said that the last 3rd-gen Firebird built was a black V6 car.

You are exactly right......it was a black V6 car. I have it in the background of some of the photos of my car. I was going to put a note in the glove box saying that it was the last Firebird, but the day was so busy I never had a chance to do that.

Re: Last Van nuys Firebird??

the seller is obviously not knowledgable about his car. He also says his V6 with ground effects has "the GTA body kit". It really makes you wonder where he even got the idea in his head that his car was the last one made at Van Nuys

The way that I was able to purchase the last car was that I asked for it. I sent a letter to Chevrolet/GM and they agreed to let me purchase the last car. When I told them I would like to watch it being built, they agreed to let me be at the plant the last few days of production.

I just looked through the photos I have here and none of them have a very good view of the Firebird. How about a rear quarter light.......it wouldn't let me post it because it was posted in an earlier thread. Look at response #44 and you can see the back quarter of the Firebird.

How awesome would that have been if you did put the note in the glovebox! I have seen that picture of the rear quarter panel in your other thread, I wish I could find that car.

I think the seats might have been recovered or are out of a Camaro with the leather seat option. What doesn't look correct about the front bumper? Base Firebirds with the Sport Appearance Package got the same bumpers and ground effects as the Trans Am. That bumper style was used from '85-90.
