Re: How old are you?
well i have posted on this thread and nobody has claimed to be older than me . several have come close , several are "NAM" vets ( as am i , 25 mos. in S.E. asia ) can i lay claim to being the oldest grearhead on here ??? love that young people have the same interest , i have tried to pass on interest to family gearheads . anyway i think it's great that we all have a common goal/interest . anyone older ??? 31 here, about to be 32 in a month. I have a 89 Iroc, and a 92 RS Z03. I also have to admit I have a 03 Mustang GT too. It's my wife's daily driver. What momma wants momma gets. Didn't argue too much since it was a V8 she was wanting! It's a fun car, but I'm a Camaro guy at heart.

Re: How old are you?
Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I'm crazy, maybe both. I got my first Third Gen in October '08, and it was the Trans Am I'd wanted from the time I was old enough to know what they were. Okay, wait...it was ONE of the Trans Ams I'd wanted since I was old enough. My Dad still has the other one...but it WILL be mine. '79 TA, Pontiac 400 4-spd 6.6 Litre. 65K Original miles, Red on Red... She will be mine...oh yes...she WILL be mine.

Hi Uncle Tom,
I will be 55 in April and my 82 bird was the last new car that I purchased back in 82. She has very few orginal parts, 350tpi, 4l60e, suspension parts, slp exhust, and the list goes on. But inside she is still all 82. Next week she goes to her new house, I took avanage of the low rates and am buying a house. She has been kept in storage for the past two years.

My very first car and my first hotrod was a 1967 Ford Mustang with a 289 (and it was even red). Got it when I was 16 for only $1600 back in 1983. Over the years I turned alot of wrenches on that car! Im sure if we did some kind of a pole most of us on this board had a muscle car when we were younger...
Some of my friends which owned hondas or toyotas in high school still just dont understand why this kind of car appeals to me or others....
Probably because I am a kid at heart and refuse to really grow up!

45 here. I bought my 85 Z28 when my son was about 18 months old. I started with a 76 Corvette (still undergoing restoration), then added an 89 Corvette convertible. A great car to drive, but I couldn't take both my wife and son with me in the 2-seater. Whoever owned my Z28 before took great care of it. It's my daily driver and I love it. I've kept it almost completely stock except for adding an aftermarket stereo with satellite radio. Like many others here, I do almost all my own wrenching. It's a great change from my daily job.

Re: How old are you?
First Hot Rod; In 1972 I bought a 1968 GMC stepside SWB truck from my Dad with money I had earned delivering news papers and mowing grass. It had the 250CI six and a three on a tree. After three months I got bored the six cylinder. I replaced the six with a 409 that came from a wrecked 64 Impala. It was a factory two four barrel engine, and I was running twin 600 Holley's on it. It only took three more months to distroy the 3 speed. It was replaced with a close ratio 4 speed with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter designed for a 55 Chevy, that fit nicely in the pick-up with a bench seat. The diff lasted two more months, and the spider gear sheared off. It was replaced with a full floating 4:56 GM posi unit. As you can guess, it was a rocket, but the handling and braking was very poor.

Re: How old are you?
Here's me in '91 during my senior year in high school with my '85. The hideous wheels are on it because I went through my first set of tires in under 6 months. At the time, the 245-50/16's were $800 for a set. I had to settle for a used set of wheels with tires for around $200.
(The background is my old '72 big-block Mustang vert. My parents still have it, but it looks much better now in red/black Mach 1 paint scheme.)

I just turned 19, and just bought my Trans Am, like so many others have said it ain't pretty yet, but it will be. I've wanted a third gen F-body since my dad sold his 82 Firebird, I was only 4 when he sold it, but I remember it well, the third gen Firebird has been my favorite car ever since.

Re: How old are you?
I'm 33, and I totally fell in love with third generation camaros the summer before I began my senior year in high school. My first camaro was an '87 sport coupe that I got right after I graduated. I ended up putting the '85-'90 ground effects on it along with a fresh paint job. In 2006 I got a '92 Z28, and just like you I plan on keeping it stock. Not that I have anything against the people that mod their cars, but I think these cars look perfect right out of the box.

I'm 19. I got my 89 Formy 350 when I was 18. I turned 19 in December, and I got my 92 a few weeks ago. I am indeed a youngin'
My Dad's an older guy (graduated HS in 66, volunteered for Vietnam the same year but was sent to Texas instead, was in the army for 14 years) but he's never been all that into cars, so I do it for him lol
I first liked third gens (without realizing they were third gens) when I was like 2 or 3 and watching Knight Rider reruns. I liked the car in the show so much that my parents bought me a little KITT model car that I basically played with until it fell apart. That's really when I got my first taste of Firebirds.

I'm 44. My first 3rd Gen was a new 1986 Camaro Sport Coupe. It was typical 80's American made car. My next 3rd Gen was new 1991 RS which I still own and drive. LOL, I've owned a 3rd Gen Camaro for 1/2 my life.

Re: How old are you?
I'm 50 and I have the same desires. My son has a '91 RS and a '97 SS (funded by me of coarse) and he keeps wanting to mod it them out and I keep insisting he leave it as it should be. Especially the SS. So far I/ve won as he has no money. The '91 is a different story as it was a plain jane 5 speed from the start. I converted it over to power windows, added power door and hatch locks, Iroc hood w/ power blisters, Iroc grille w/ driving lights, wonderbar, 3:42 posi w/ disc brakes and we put a set of the older version IROC wheels. They are chrome 17" replicas. We plan to build 350 for it and put on a set of bowtie heads we have.

IM 19, my first car i bought was a 71 roadrunner that was rusty on the outside and in some places on the inside but the 426 hemi roared like new I just got my first camaro about a week ago she's a 1984 z28, I traded my 2000 ford ranger for her and im glad I did, my girlfriend on the other hand was pissed, but now she's happy i did too lol, she said i was immature and childish because of my new toy but hey im a guy who hasnt grown up how many of those could there possibly be right? lmao...Ive owned muscle cars since i was old enough to drive and my family has been building american muscle since before my time, I'm a 4th gen speed-demon and and a 1st gen camaro/chevy owner (my family was dodge or ford and nothin else)
i still have my roadrunner but unfortunatley she's out of the race and into my moms garage, i havent driven her since my dad died because it was our project and he helped me so much.....

40-got my '82z back in 1990 with about 86000 mi on it
(240000 + now) Had known of the thirdgens when they
first came out but never really got a good look at one
until the summer of '85 when i looked over an '83 z28
on a used car lot-that thing was COOL!,great looks,high
tech '80s interior, air induction hood, big leather shift ball,
nice wheels, neat little clock on the console, rear hatch
louvers, crossfire injection.. could not afford one back
then so had to "settle"for an $800 '69 camaro LOL
originally mine had LG4/super t10/3.23 open
In 1994 put in an '84 vette 350 crossfire engine
was dissatisfied with performance so removed and
modified the x-fire and reinstalled ran GOOD then!
engine still running good and strong today.

Currently starting on ls1 swap and temporary moving the 305 into my 67 camaro while 355 is getting rebuilt so i can at least move it around. I'm going to college so i can get a decent job to pay for the cars i like.

Re: How old are you?
I am 37 years pld. I saw these cars brand new. I loved them then and I love them even more now.
At 14 my brother got a used 1984 Camaro 4 cylinder and I never looked back.
I had a 1984 TA, 1991 TA convertible, 1988 Iroc 5sp convertible and still have my 1989 TTA.

Re: How old are you?
I just turned 29. I bought my first 3rd gen when I was 16 for $350 and bought an engine for it for another $350. I had never worked on a car before and over the summer figured it all out by myself and has it running in time for start of school! Of course I had distributor issues my first day at school with it! Lol.
I think I drove that car untagged for almost 2 years while I beat the living crap out of it! I ended up trading it for a 1960 El Camino SS straight across. I got almost 8 tickets my first 2 years of driving in that car, 1 more and I would have lost my license. I was a terror on the road! All that changed when I became a dad at 19!

I'm 24, and have owned some form of Firebird since 17 years old, but my first was a 1982 Trans Am. A 91 V6 and 86 V6 came later.
