Assistance with decoding please

I removed my door trim panel today and this fell out. It matches my vehicle, but I can't decipher the codes. Can anyone lend assistance?

Further, when I removed my door panel I observed that underneath it the door is teal green, yet the vehicle is black. I can surmise that the panel had not been off since construction due to finding sheet under the panel, so is there any reason my door would have teal overspray on it yet be black?

Thanks for any assistance that can be had.

This is the factory build sheet, typically it's between the passenger seat cushion and springs. The RPO tag which I think on a 92 is in the glove/spare tire locking compartment inthe left rear will tell you what the original color was.

Re: Assistance with decoding please

Unfortunately this is the closest thing to an RPO that I can find in the vehicle. The RPO decal is missing from the drivers side door and is not present in the "glove box".

This whole overspray thing has me curious though. Obviously the vehicle is originaly black, except that passenger side door, I have dug around inside enough to see the tell-tale signs of a repaint, and that door is the only clue I have that something might be different. Not that I really care if the vehicle was repainted, it looks good in black, but it has me scratching my head because I found the sheet in the door panel of that door with the green overspray.

I look forward to any further assistance is helping to decode the mystery of this vehicle. I am very interested in the history of it.

CamaroCop, you'll be happy to know that on that sheet it has the body colour code listed as 41. That is for black (Paint code 41/WA8555). Of which, by the way, they made only 7,524 out of 70,007 Camaros in '92.

No why the green. Not sure. It might be the original door. It might be a different door but the autobody guy transferred the paper (not likely). Maybe some others have some ideas.

Very interesting.... only 7,524? And here I thought black was the most common color. Knowing that is incredible. I wonder, of those 7,524 how many are still on the road?

My thought on the door is that it might have been damaged at the factory and the guys and gals at GM threw a green door on there after a quick repaint. I just wish I knew more about the vehicle history, this poor girl is a little rough, the previous owner didn't take care of it very well. The paint is good, and the body straight, but the interior is rough and it acts like it has been rode hard and put away wet.

Re: Assistance with decoding please

I'm glad she's now in a good home.

Note: The least produced was Dark Green @ 2,659. However, the most popular colour for '92 Camaros was Dark Teal Metallic @ 14,779 units. A very wild guess would be that considering this was the last year for the 3rd gen, and since the factory may be trying to use any remaining inventory, if they did take an existing door and make it black, the odds are that it would have been Teal originally.
Again, this is totally unsupported guessing but it's fun to think about.
