Hey guys I found a dude from TGO who is selling me a complete weatherstrip kit (minus driver side t-top) for $100.

I am going to replace everything. Trunk, doors, roofrails and the passenger t-top.



I inspected the weatherstripping today and things like the trunk and doors look relatively simple just being held in with clips and screws. But thing like the T-Tops and the roofrails looked a bit more complicated. It it all glued in? How do you remove it? What do you use to put it back in? Can you use black RTV silicone to act as both an adhesive and sealant when installing the new stripping or does a special adhesive have to be used? How do you get the old adhesive off?

This is my first experience doing this and I have done very little (OK, I haven't done any) research on the subject.

Could the more experienced users here please give me any directions/instructions/advice I need to know before doing this? Thanks.

I actually did do a quick search, but only turned up about two things useful. Everything else was along the lines of, "What brand of weatherstripping to use!?", or, "My roof leaks! HELP!".

I was trying to contain all the answers and advice within one easy thread.
