OK anyone that has info on the 1982 Indy pace car, I have a couple of good color photos of one but cannot determine if the dark blue stripe around the mid section of the car is the same color blue as the recessed area on the hood vents. or is it a darker metallic blue? hard to tell from photos, if anyone has paint codes for the blue stripe? i assume the silver is the same metallic silver used on plain Camaros that year.
any help would be useful, I'm trying to paint a model of this car to look exactly like the original.

1982 GM code 16 on the silver.

1981 GM Bright Blue Poly on the lower (blue metallic) Should be PPG #3340. The hood had a decal, not paint, that matches the paint color.

 

Thanks Scott! so the blue sticker is a perfect match to the metallic blue #3340? unfortunately the decals on my model are printed in blue ink, not at all metallic. May have to mask and paint the hood blue areas myself.

I have the 1982 Factory Assembly Manual Color and Trim Specification Sheet for the RPO Z50 (Indy Pace Car)

I had it all typed in and was trying to post the response when the board logged me off . The response was lost, so I will try to re-post Thur. evening. This sheet has all the WA paint codes for the body, GFX, wheels, and the WHM color codes for the Emblems and Decals.

www.stencilsandstripes.com sells the complete decal and stripe kit for about $850. Or they will sell you specific parts of the kit.

Those pace cars are cool.

 

yeah especially the one they used in the race, it had an aluminum 350 instead of a 305 and from photos I've seen it had the crossfire injection.

Great work! The decals on the hood layout is nice. looks like 3 diff decals on each side. so if the air induction doors were seperate from the decals were they black or painted blue?

In the link I posted, take a close look at the third picture in message #2. You can clearly see the black color of the induction flaps.

Not quite as clearly, in message #2, second picture.

The picture Scott posted also shows black flaps, if you look very closely. No blue there
