1992 B4C in bad shape but how much?

Okay ive came across this camaro and was wondering how much i should offer the guy. He bought it for a parts car and has picked some off of it. It has over 200k miles on it. posi rear, 5 spd, tpi 305 in rs package. So i know its a b4c. here is a picture.

Re: 1992 B4C in bad shape but how much?

I'm guessing from the general disarray and transmission in the cockpit that it's a total, non-running, clapped out, crap-wagon. I'd start my haggling around $200. That's assuming the title is clean.

Here's the thing... That car is hammered. Any value that car had as a B4C went out the window when the original parts went to hell. It's far from original, and to restore it properly is going to cost a small fortune. Assuming that's the original numbers matching engine, you can count on it being just about done with 200k miles. The car has obviously been molested, and it'll never be the same.

If it were complete, clean, with a decent paint job, interior, and it ran and drove, I'd say closer to $3-5k, maybe more... But in that condition it's going to take at least twice that amount to restore. It's a parts car at best. Probably salvagable, but unless you can document that it's really a B4C, I wouldn't consider it any more valuable then a beat up RS with some desireable parts.

it would be worth money fixed up, but it would (more than likely) cost more to get it nice again. that poor car.

It would make a great road race car. Unless you had tons of parts laying around to put it back together, it looks pretty wasted to me. Definetly a parts car.

I would offer 5 - 600 for it. If it is a 92 B4C it will also be a 1LE. If you can work on it your self it wont cost to much to fix it back up. I have built these cars that were in worse shape than that one. Good Luck with it and let us know if you pick it up.

AC was never an option with the 1LE code on third gens. and Without the RPO label, how can you really be sure its a b4c?

Do you know how many RS camaros had TPI units plopped in place of the TBI unit? The RPO label tells no lies. plus untill you decode the casting numbers on the engine, you have no idea WTF it is. And with the shape its in , anything is possible with that car.Just make sure the VIN on the RPO label matches the car its in..lol plus someone has it for sale...

Re: 1992 B4C in bad shape but how much?

It's on Ebay too, and there are pics of whats left of the SPID. It's just as mangled and dirty as the rest of the car, but you can see B4C and 1LE on the label. It'd be hard to tell if the VIN on the SPID matches the cars, it's really dirty. Isn't the restored B4C in the pic he keep posting the one that was on Ebay a month or so ago? Anyone remember the price tag on that Camaro? Chances are it'd cost more to restore the one in this thread, then it'd cost to buy one already restored.

Could you imagine a police officer in a car without AC?
The B4C's in '92 shared the RPO 1LE on the SPID. And yes, RPO C60 also shared the same label.

And WHO said Compnine is only a novelty... Just ran the VIN, thats what it came back with...

Lets face it, no matter what it is...err was, the car is not worth $2500... To restore the car that is in that kind of condition to be worth $5000 would take at least $25,000... It would be worth it in about 40 years, and that's if our economy does not continue to Progressively tank... You could get the car for Free, and still end up in the hole... Drew is correct on this one

Your welcome...

Does the condition of the SPID make anyone else think maybe this car spent some time under water?

The label appears to have gone through a few wet/dry cycles.

Re: 1992 B4C in bad shape but how much?

Considering that League City is really close to Galviston TX, I would suspect there may be water damage as there was a Hurricane that went thru there last year or the year before...

I suspect you would have to replace everything on the car to make it reasonably nice... There is nothing on the car that has any value at this point, The only thing that has a remote chance of having any salvagable value would be the front brakes... b Even then you would probably have to replace the rotors, and possibly the calipers if they are as rusty as the rest of the car.

Re: 1992 B4C in bad shape but how much?

That's what I was thinking... I think it's possible the car could be restored, but a person would really have to be in love with the idea of a cop car.
