I personally like the word iconic for these cars. Reading all these posts makes me really glad I jumped at the opportunity to get one when I could. When I was growing up this was the car of my older brothers generation. He's thirteen years older than me and a lot of his friends had IROC's and other 3rd gens. My love for hear cars has been around a long time and I think if I waited longer to get one I would've ended up regretting it when they slipped out of my price range. I think these will spike sooner or later when the 80's kids start making money and collecting cars. These and the fox bodies will be the cars they sought when they were kids and the ones they're going to start buying now.

AGREEE 100%. EVERYINE knows an IROC and a LOT of people try to mimic the car - but a Z28, RS is NOT an IROC, ONLY an IROC is - It will be a legend because it already is, but gaining speed, buy them now! Hoard IROC specific parts too!

I consider the IROC-Z a legend for many of the reasons already stated. I think the best reasoning is that almost anyone you talk to, whether they are in to cars or not, think of Camaro when you mention IROC. It may not be a performance legend in the sense of the 69 ZL1s, but there is no denying Chevy made the name, and it's association with Camaro, a part of automotive pop culture.

If i'm not mistaken alot of after market wheels are fashioned after Iroc wheels...... and called Iroc's.
In the greater Los Angeles area Iroc's are well known, even by young people who probable didn't drive in the 80's.
I had some BFG G Force 2's put on my 89 the other day and the young guys in the shop where really checking it out. After it was alligned the guy comes back after a test drive and I asked him how it was... ( meaning the allignment) his face just lit up and he said this car is bitchen..... I said, I mean the allignment... kinda funny.... it did make an impression on him.
