Re: More Research - More Questions

You might want to edit your post and format it so that it's legible. As is it's so jumbled together it's hard to follow.

If no one jumps in to help, I'll see what I can come up with after lunch.

Re: More Research - More Questions

The codes at the bottom are the actual paint codes. Enamel tells you it's enamel paint, WA is the prefix, L#### is the lower color, U#### is the upper color. 7211 is listed as Spectra Red code 75.

If you haven't already, go back to www.thirdgen.org click the rpo decoder link and run all your codes through there. Ignore any codes that say (91) at the end, as the definitions probably won't apply. Then come back here and list the ones you can't find and I'm sure we can fill in most of them. The way you have them all dumped into a paragraph with possible definitions is just a mess.

Re: More Research - More Questions

Seems like we've got very similar cars, but in different colors.
The only "rare" options (uncommon would be more accurate) are AQ9 (Lear Siegler seats) and UQ7 (Special speaker system with two subwoofers).
WS3 must have been a Special Package grouping several "performance" options I guess. I know four different "Pontiac Excitement Plus Savings" packages of the same kind : WS1, WS3, WS5, and WS8.
This is the description of WS1 I found on a dealer sticker from an 84 S/E : "Pontiac Excitement Plus Savings : Savings with minimum purchase of : Power door locks, power windows, rear spoiler, tilt steering column and AM/FM radio with cassette"
This one is for WS5 : "Pontiac Excitement Plus Savings : Savings on minimum purchase of Hood applique, Aero Package and 5.0L 4bbl HO with performance package"
I haven't found anything about WS3 and WS8 yet.

Our cars are not really "rare", but there were only 7,051 L69 5 speed T/A built that year, add to that the L/S seats, T-Tops, W62 and UQ7 and it reduces the number of similar cars quite significantly.

Here's my SPId, as you can see I have both WS3 and WS8, but I'm not sure what this on means yet :

Could you give me your complete VIN by PM if you don't mind ? I'm making a registry of 82-84 Firebird.

I'd advise you to go to the www.earlythirdgen.com forums as we discuss mainly 82-84 Firebirds there, they are very different from the later models.

Some early 3rd gens got the aluminum bumper instead of the steel ones that attach to the honeycomb crush panels. Not too many of those around.

Re: More Research - More Questions

Yes, its very light compared to the standard steel bumper. Some idiots cut some chunks of it to install a KR nose
Some 80-81 Trans Ams and Formulas had the VD6 bumper as well.

yeah, the aluminum bumper is really light, i have one in the garage. It also has a binch of large opening in it, so even less weight compared to the more solid faced steel ones. I cant imagine its very useful in a crash though
