Any reason why...
There aren't that many people with 82-84 Camaros on here, and on top of it most of the time they have newer graphics? It seems its almost impossible to find an 82-84 car with a total stock look to it.

Maybe theres fewer left. When I was looking to buy a thirdgen, that was my preferred year range (25 years old for emissions reasons) and I had trouble finding one too. Out of the dozens of birds and camaros on craigslist, almost none were from those years.

Mines an '84, but guilty of the Iroc nose update. The PO had customized the stock 84 bumper and I hated it so I changed it out with what I had available.

Re: Any reason why...
It has to do with age... The earlier cars were the first ones to become cheap. Back in the late 80's/early 90's, they were cheap enough for highschool kids to afford, so a ton of them got "updated" to look like later cars, and otherwise used up, smashed, rusted, destroyed, etc. They were the first ones to wear out, and become old enough that banks wouldn't lend money on them, etc. 1984 was the largest production run of these cars. It used to be that almost EVERY Camaro I saw was either an 84 or an 86, but now they've all been used up.

Want an '83? I can pick you one up, good driving condition (I test drove it), needs an oil pan (not sure what happened there) and head cover gaskets. Maybe the bolt on the front end of the motor to keep oil from leaking out? Not sure if that got fixed. Anyway, it's been painted, but so far as I can tell, never wrecked. Needs weatherstriping. I would imagine I could pick it up for ~$2000 cash. Oh yeah, 305 Z28, by the VIN.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never been a fan of changing how the car looks on the outside or inside. I like bone stock interior and bone stock exterior, but then having an engine swap and tons of suspension mods under the hood.

Re: Any reason why...
I think its simply because of the fact that the '85-'92 look is much more modern, and is easy to achieve. Not to mention the fact that the parts are much more plentiful, as well!
I think another issue with the '82-'84 cars is the engines flat wore out faster. A good friend of mine has been a GM mechanic for many years. He owned an '82 Impala for years with a puny 267 V8 in it. We pulled the cam out of it at 120k because it was running rough...the lobes were flat worn out. The roller cams of '87+ last soooo much longer. My LO3 with 120k on it, by comparison burns no oil, runs out as well as a fairly stock 305 can, and feels like a new one.
