I picked up an 1987 z28 ,305 carb motor with 5sp,orignal owner car,was a friend of my dads,car has never been touched,with org 77000miles on her and people are telling me,that car should be tpi,not carb.I know for a fact car has never been altered,and still has orig clutch,,,any input

 

Is this rare or just like all the rest?

 

its a stock config. Nothing to special as far as i can tell, the 5- speed is more uncommon, but not terribly rare.

 

87 was the last year you could get a carb motor. It the 8th digit of the vin is 8 or F then yes it should be a TPI motor. I dont think its rare there are lots of them. What color is it ? Post some pics if you can.

 

car white,t-tops and fully loaded,,,,,, bad part is the crummy red int...just never liked red...car only needs sum lovin,has been parked under carport un driven for approx 6yrs,got it all running and tuned,just working small issues out of it

 

just went out and looked at 8th digit,it is an "h" I almost bought this car new in dec of 1987,I couldnt afford the 20 grand price at time,and ended up buying a reg camaro 305 5sp for alot less,my dads friend bought this one from same dealer I got mine from 2 weeks later.so I know history of car,was just trying to figure out if there was anything special about it..thanks for all the input

 

H designates the LG4. The small V8.
