Fair Price for this car?

I am not sure if this is the right place to make this thread, so I apologize in advance if it is in the incorrect area. I am currently looking at a Thirdgen Camaro and was wondering what a fair price to pay for it would be. The car is a 1988 Iroc-Z Convertible, it has over 100k miles on the body, but 6k miles on the engine, drivetrain and suspension. It also has a fresh paint job and newly redone interior. Everything seems perfect on it, no flaws that I could tell at all. So given those variables, what is a fair range to offer to buy this car for?

Prices vary a lot on these cars. If you post pics and more info people can give you their opinions, but there are regular threads on here where someone got a smoking deal, or less often paid way too much. There isn't much consistency. The question you should be asking is how much do you think it's worth to you? In the end it's still up to you, and while there are still plenty of these cars out there, the chances of finding exactly what you want in a timely fashion at the price you want to pay, are pretty slim.

Re: Fair Price for this car?

Also a bearing factor on prices is your location. Up north prices can be escalated due to the possibility of finding a good rust free, high optioned car, and the prices reflect that. Adversely, down south they are still readily available. You need to judge from other sales in your area, or similar sales in your area to really get a good feel for pricing a car. You can add value every step of the way, with the new engine, transmission, probably rebuilt axle, along with the options in the car (power features, convertible, whether factory original or aftermarket would set some price fluctuation there), and then add a fair amount for the paint job and you will come to your total.

Also letting us know what the person is asking, if they came up with a price that is, so that we aren't speculating higher prices than he's already asking.

Of course there's always the possibilty that the OP is the owner/seller, and trying to get an estimate of how much to sell it for.

This fact is the reason I didn't blink at spending over $10,000 for my IROC. How many places could I possibly find an under 30,000 mile, completely original, T-top 350 IROC in Medium Grey?? Its like the car was simply waiting for me all these years, a mere 20 miles from my house. Other than the lack of a performance axle ratio, its absolutely perfect.

Re: Fair Price for this car?

$7500 for everything you listed in my area is a fair price, considering the money he probably spent if he has all the receipts claiming all the work was done so recently. Around me a solid rust free RS convertible was around $3000, and I haven't seen another in a long time. I would always try and talk him down, but that seems fair for a 75% rebuilt car.
