RPO Sticker Missing?????
I recently acquired an 85 IROC. One ower call, never wrecked, never damaged, still on original tires, 44,xxx miles, been sitting for 20 years. I have every piece of paperwork with the car from the day it was bought, dealer invoice, build sheet, warranty cards, original title, etc, etc, etc. Everything to trace the cars history.
This thing is missing the RPO sticker in the center console. As far as I know it has never been touched. I do not see any signs of foul play
Any body else ever encounter this?? I looked in the back trunk area, and nothing. It seems it was never installed.
Any thoughts

It's possible that the heat melted the glue and when it fell off the previous owner just chucked it. Or the corner started to peel at some point and the sticker was ripped off and it met the same fate. To people that don't know cars (which is 99% of the population), throwing out papers is a good deed.

There is no evidence that it fell off, and as far as I know the console was never touched.

Not sure what year they started putting those there; your car might be from before that. I was thinking it was around 87 or so but I could very easily be wrong (well, I AM "wrong" .... but mistaken about this specific thing besides just that). SPID labels weren't invented yet before whenever it was.
There may still be a build sheet under the front seat someplace, that would have whatever info you are looking for on it.

The SPID sheet started in 84, I have one off of my 84 Trans Am. This is a mystery you will never solve. It was 99.999999% sure from the factory, it is 100% not there now... anything we add is a total guess.
My guess is that aliens stole it using super high tech removal methods so to not leave a trace it was ever there...

Re: RPO Sticker Missing?????
on my 84, it was on the lid, but on my 89, it was on the side of the console (inside). when i junked the 84, i grabbed the lid and swapped it onto the 89 since that one was junk. one car got 2 sheets when all was said and done, the other had none. maybe the lid was swapped with another one because it got broken? Not completely out of the question I suppose

Re: RPO Sticker Missing?????
Not too uncommon unfortunately....my 91 was missing its RPO sticker when I bought it, so I had to use compnine to verify all the options (or the lack thereof in my case).
We've got a 1990 ZR1 here at work on consignment, nicest '90 model I've seen in a LONG time, 37,000 miles. Has EVERY piece of dealer/factory documentation, right down to the pre-delivery checklist, but it's missing the RPO sticker out of the console as well.
I think maybe people just like to remove them because they specifically say 'do not remove'. When I was a kid, I used to think that you'd get arrested if you removed the 'do not remove' tag from a mattress. Perhaps it was done by a previous (uneducated) rebellious owner.
