What do you guys think, is it worth the trouble to have them redone? Rarity? Any value to them....?

I would refurbish them. They only made 1500 anniversary cars. Seeing as you only have the seats I guess we lost another one. Considering the rarity of the fabric and the rarity of the cars in general, some one would pay for good ones that were redone if they're restoring one.

I would restore them, and I too would contact that guy in post #2. Figure you're in for about $2k to restore them.

I say redo them original. Finding the original fabric will be tough. I bought the last the supplier had and sold all of it through a group buy on TransAmGTA.com like 10 years ago. I imagine allot of people still have the fabric unused. Each sold to each person was enough for front and back seats.

Good luck, Alex

I just bought an 84 trans am anniversary. I too want to restore the interior to original. Let me know if the original fabric is found.

Why did they have a Anniversary in 1984? 17th Anniversary?

15th anniversary for the Trans/Am. Trans/Am was first offered in 1969.

Thanks haha I was thinking about just Camaros and Firebirds, T/A wasn't in my head at the time. I've been up all night and I'm a little delusional haha.

Re: '84 Anniversary Recaro Seats.... Are They Worth Refurbishing?

I still have these. The rears came out very nice, scrubbed them down and they look new. I removed the tracks from the fronts and cleaned them up by removing the surface rust, hitting them with the right paint, and applying WD40 to the linkage. The fabric for the fronts still needs to be redone though, but I figured I would hold onto them for the time being...

They are sweet seats and should be redone to stock or as close as you can get anyways.

Re: '84 Anniversary Recaro Seats.... Are They Worth Refurbishing?

Anyone ever come up with a source for this material? I know I saw the remainder being sold years ago and considered jumping on it then but passed. Any info would be appreciated

Re: '84 Anniversary Recaro Seats.... Are They Worth Refurbishing?

I almost had my seats redone at that interior shop on Fast and Loud.
https://www.asmautoupholstery.com/index.html

I still may have her work on my seats. She was able to find fabric that closely matched the original color.

I actually bought these seats from him and had them re done . Not in anniversary trim but in tan. The shop Back In Time might be able to help you source the correct material. Id give them a call.

Well, looks like the distributor didn’t stand the test of time. That location probably gave the Recaro seats the Trans Am fabric and mounting bracket. A shame that it’s ancient history now.

I got the material for my 82 Recaro from SMS. They might have what you need.

Re: '84 Anniversary Recaro Seats.... Are They Worth Refurbishing?

Was it just the material? Or stitched and ready to be put on the seats? I have a set of Recaro LX-C I would like to recover.

Just the material. It was complicated to get, as it was undyed. I had to give them a sample of my original so they could dye it the right color. This was after sending me a color they had in stock that was way off. Not an easy customer service oriented company to deal with, which made the whole experience a real pain in the butt. Oh - not cheap either. Maybe the later seats with leather might be something they stock. The tough ones would be the anniversary ones at the start of this thread with the very specific center insert material.
If you are just looking to get a set redone in whatever material you can find, go to a good upholsterer who can use the old seat covers as a pattern. The guy who did mine was great, but unfortunately, gave up the business and disappeared. He used to post here every now and then - JJ custom interior in Washington.
