1/8 scale 1982 Z28 model

Found this on eBay. Hopefully someone from here gets it and builds a great model. I'd love to get it myself, but it's out of my price range for my model building skills!!

Re: 1/8 scale 1982 Z28 model

I would love to have it ,wish I had the money, and the reserve price is about right for 1/8 scale now. I've built a 1/25 scale of my '83. Amazon has a listing for a 1/8 scale IROC but it's currently unavailable and no price is listed.

Re: 1/8 scale 1982 Z28 model

Models are tough to find for our cars. There are NO CURRENT production models from 82-92 at least for Camaro, Z-28 or IROC - I have not checked Firebird current but did find an Black 88 GTA model 1:24 in an older shop the other day and found DieCast or the TTA, and GTA but nothing Camaro.
Supply and demand! Those 1/8 scale are almost 2 feet long when completed. Worth it but models unbuilt are worth more than built. Sealed worth more than open.... It is almost like throwing $100 on a shelf for years. I did find an 82 1:24 AAIC Z29E the other day and it was 40.00 in a store. Go check model pricing, the days for $5.00 models are LONG gone.

well it only takes two people to dictate the market on ebay. the last time one of these came up, the market said it was only worth $100. we'll see..

Re: 1/8 scale 1982 Z28 model

Just for the record...I bought the 1/8 scale IROC-Z back in the late 80s. It cost me $53 if I remember correctly. So the asking price isn't too out of line for today. Unfortunately, we all want the value of items like this to remain where they started or decrease in value over time. I'd love to have this model, but the asking price is more than I want to spend this time of year. I can easily put that money to better use in today's economy.

Scott I completly agree on the price being in line with todays economy. 1/8 scale models have never been inexpensive. I still have a 1/8 scale XKE I built as a teenager along with a 1/16 scale '67 Stingray. I have the box for my 1/16 scale '83 T/A but have no idea where the model is (have smaller model parts in the box - it was made by MPC). They were in the 25 -40 dollar range even then. The 1/25 scale then were 3-8 dollars depending on the company. Those same models today are 5 -20 dollars today. If I had the money for the one on Ebay I'd buy it in a heartbeat but it can be used otherwise at this time. Model kits of any size today are mostly found at hobby shops or online. Stores like Walmart or Kmart carry very few , if any, due to little volume when it comes to sales.
