Re: ENGINE/TRANS POLL

You know there is that subset that argues it was because GM couldnt pass emissions regs with the T5 behind the L98.

Then when the T56 came out it had that stupid CAGS system... makes it almost sound plausible...

But I still think it's because the T5's are weak sauce.

T56 made it's debut in 93. But that stupid CAGS was added in 94.

True, T5 with a 350 would have meant another emissions certification, but the actual reason was undoubtedly reliability.

Exactly What I Was Thinking Why Didn't GM Use The Same Manual Tranny That The Vette Used

maybe they didnt want the iroc to keep up with the vette and figured if they put a stick with a 350 in the iroc they would be to close ..

im mean really ...gm couldnt make a manual trans. handle 240 h.p. ...really dont think they wanted to in my opinion ..

$$$$$$$$$

Zf-6 wasn't cheap. Doug Nash 4+3 was junk. They knew people wouldnt pay the extra couple thousand in the numbers needed to make it worth it. Autos already outsold manuals like 4 to 1, there wasn't that much demand to begin with.
