Anyone ever heard of these? They say "Top Logic" and look to be made in Troy Michigan. Anyone know anything about these at all??

WEIRD!! I've seen Astro Tops on older Corvettes, but never knew anything like this was available for F-Bodies. I wonder how waterproof they are...

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
They used to be advertised in the automotive section of the Sears Catalog, back in the late '80's. They were supposed to be a less-bulky alternative to heavy, glass t-tops. I always imagined them as a temporary thing, like for use on a day trip to the beach when the car is filled with beach chairs and such. I can't say as I have ever actually seen a set in use.

These were probably used to shade you from the sun and keep your air conditioned air in the car if it got too hot. When you went somewhere and didn't want to bring your glass tops in the car.

I'm very interested as well. I would have asked for them earlier but I didn't think you were willing to part with them. What are you asking for them?

Amazing! He did not set an asking pirce but I think I said I would buy them as long as the asking price is fair. If not fair or what I feel is too much, then you can make a decision? Or does this work differently than the real workd on here. Is my post above invisible?

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
I will get them back out tomorrow and post exactly what the instructions show. I will take a few pictures with the bag and original box. The box is beat up but can be saved with some packaging tape.
I have NO idea what to ask for them, I think these are "worth what someone is willing to pay for them" I only know what I have into them... I will send you a PM.
See above, sorry I usually only get online at night...

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
All I know is they are rare, very rare from what I can find. I bought them because I have never seen something like this before and I wanted to save them and bring them back to the third gen world.
I guess I would say these are for sale for the best offer, if its more or close to what I have into them I will part with them to someone in the thirdgen world.
I am searching vigorously for more information on them. The best I have come up with is over in the corvette world, similar tops are very popular.

Are they the same size as stock t-tops, or where they a custom modification like the C&C tops?

Appear to be same size as stock T-Tops. I will get more pictures tomorrow after work and I will put one side by side of my stock T-top... I will get pictures of the instructions and the bag as well.

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
Dude, what's your problem? All I said was that I was interested and you start getting all pissy. Did I say anything about getting them over you? Nope. Are you new to the boards? That's normally how things work. You spoke up first, so you are first in line. I spoke up next, so I am after you, on on it goes. If I didn't post, then somebody else could possibly get in line before me. I don't see any reason why you're getting all defensive. So, as you allude to, this is just like the real world; where your illiteracy shines through in your spelling.
Ha ha.... I type quickly.... I might not spell every word correctly (because I type quickly and don't use Firefox which helps you identify misspelled words) but I can read and write!!!!! Personal attacks do not buy them any faster for you. I made an offer - you throw one out now and maybe some others will after you. I do not even like making offers, so I am probably not even worried about buying them now. I usually don't do the highest bid wins on a forum. Make your offer and you might own them, then someone else will make an offer.... So I wish you the best of luck and thank you for letting me know your 12 years of being here entitled you more than others. You started the personal attack with the derogatory statement, not me.

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
Not pissy, one small paragraph stating I was interested first. No problems but personal attacks over the computer have been going on ever since the "common man" could afford a computer and to be online - obviously you would fit into this formula.

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
calm down guys all is well. I am going to get a few more pictures tonight so you both and whoever else wants has all the right correct information. Due to the rarity of these, price is kinda hard to judge, again I am doing some research mainly on corvette forums since I can not find another set for a camaro out there at all. I will post some more pictures and I will respond to your PM RareBMX tonight after I get the pictures!

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
Thank you. No sweat here. I just wanted first shot at them. Being a Vette owner, I have looked into these before and there are a couple different styles still for sale today. These are a temporary fix or the rain tops they are called and not the portable canvas tops that go in the $350 range new (I don't think anyway because there is no liner) and if they were used daily would not hold up long. Some of the other sets look like they would be a little more durable but look ugly. Anything soft like this that folds up cannot be as good with flexing while driving and not as tight as the originals glass or Lexan (I have a set of those too). If I bought them, I would keep them inside the house until I went to a show and then possibly put them on for a conversation piece while parked. I would want to preserve them until more pop up. They always seem to pop up once someone figures out what they are. Take your time and I will wait and see.

Says it right there in the Title line of the instructions, "Factory T-tops only". That rules me out.

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
I was in from the beginning. I did send you an offer last night. I truly will rarely (maybe weekend car shows locally) use them but will store them inside and keep them safe for years to come. I truly think they are a cool add-on. Not sure of the true value but rare doesn't always mean sought after....? I just like unique items for display. Please PM me and we can discuss further or send me the PayPal address and I will send $.

Dammit. I honestly thought I. Came up with the idea for a soft top for easy storage when on short trips and need the "trunk" I was eventually going to try to fab up a pair...

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
Not with everyone claiming "dibs" on them.. because "dibs" are legally binding, without the seller's consent or knowledge required! That's why dibs are so awesome.
In all seriousness.... they're pretty ugly. Very neat, but very ugly. I can see why they werent that popular. If I had a T-Top car I'd probably leave the glass off in the summer and keep those in the car in case it rained. It would depend on how hard tehy were to install and how big they are uninstalled.

Re: Top Logic Soft T-tops
I did call dibs and I think we came up with a price but of course that all could change. I do want them but Darren wants to do some more research, which I understand. I think the price seems fair but you never know.... We will hopefully decide once the details come in.
I also wanted to quote this about RARITY from thirdgen.org.... SEE BELOW Although talking about a whole car I am just addressing rare is one thing, desireable is another. I think they are cool for just something different.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...re-asking.html
"Two cars, Both were made in 1989, one is "Rare" the other is more common. The first car is a Camaro with an AM radio, there was only 49 of them with the option in 1989. The second "More common" car is the Turbo Trans Am (TTA) they made 1555 of them. If we think of "Rare" as being valuable and the more rare something is makes it more valuable ultimately we are very mistaken... The 1989 TTA is worth WAY more than the Camaro with the AM radio, There should NOT be an argument about it, THIS is the way things are. To assume otherwise is futile and a waste of bandwidth IMHO.
This leads us into what determines a car to be "DESIRABLE"... HISTORY tells us that there are a few factors that determines desirability. For the most part PERFORMANCE plays a huge role in determining desirability. Very few cars, that do not perform have significant value in today's marketplace, I cannot think of many except for a Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. The second thing that makes a car desirable is Style or appearance. Convertibles are always more valuable than equally equipped hard tops, I do not know of a single exception to this rule. So a Z28 Convertible with a LB9/M5 will be worth MORE than a Z28 Hard top with an LB9/M5 with similar options and the same condition, EVERY TIME. Take ONE of the above factors, such as "Performance" or "Style" and THEN combine it with "Rare" or at least unusual then you have something worth while. IF you Have BOTH then you REALLY have something that hits the mark.
In the end, you have to look at a car from a buyers point of view, its basically Supply & Demand. MOST people want a performance car, at least if your reading this I am going to assume so. Most people would rather have a 350 IROC-Z than a 6 Cyl RS, I am not trying to hurt feelings, its the honest truth and the way things are. Lets look at the facts 1) More people want Performance 2) There are more V6 Camaros than there are 350 Camaros available. Therefore there is a smaller supply and a larger demand for a 350 IROC-Z making them more valuable. In short, if you had two Identical cars sitting next to each other both were the same price, both were the same condition, the only difference is some option, it does not matter what the option is, the car that has the better options should sell first..."

Sounds to me like the seller is really proud of these aftermarket tops, thinks they are rare, and wants a mint for them. Regardless, this has gone from being a "history" topic to being a "classified" topic, and the thread should be closed.

Or maybe the seller didn't wanna really sell them from the get go or mayb he wants more history i just think you need to mind your own business since you don't know anythung about what has happen beyond this thread now do you................. Didn't think so also no one thinks there so rare that they are worth millions he was just looking for facts some offers we're made offers we're made so doesn't mean this is a for sell thread nor does it need to be closed maybe cleaned a little

I know it's hard to understand now, but these cars were the rage in the '80's. Every mail order catalog had sections dedicated to these cars, and sections for Jeeps as well. I guess the closest correlation you could make today would be pick-up truck parts, such as brush guards and nerf bars, sold through catalogs like Summit. They are not performance parts, but Summit sells them to capitalize on the current popularity of trucks, and the desire to customize them. Back in the 80's, aluminum "Black Magic" wing spoilers, LeBra's, and aftermarket body kits would have been on the same page as these soft t-tops. And while LeBra's were quite popular in the '80's, I can't imagine a new-in-box specimen called "rare" or even "desirable" today.
