reason i ask is because almost every l98 iroc i have came across in person has gold trim (iroc badges, wheel accent). i know there are some out there with the more apealing silver accented irocs out there with l98's. but is that more rare?

 

i see alot more of the silver accented cars. i owned an 87 black/silver L98 iroc years ago.

 

I don't know how rare they are. I know I haven't seen another color combination like mine. My car is dark red metallic. I've got bright red & black stripes with gold iroc-z stickers. The part that says 'camaro' on my grill is gold to. I've seen a lot more cars with silver as the contrasting color though.

 

Agreed...the silver is far more common, and is tied to the interior color. The only time gold exterior striping was used was when a tan interior was installed.

Does this interior color also determine gold or silver wheel color or did you get a choice on that?

 

The wheel accents matched the stripe and interior color.

Personally, I think the prettiest IROC (aside from my own Grey with black/blue stripe combo!) is Medium Blue Metallic with the black/gold stripe with the gold wheels and tan interior. My other personal favorite is white with the yellow/silver stripe and the grey interior...

 

hmm strange. must be location. all the silver accented irocs i have seen were always lb9 cars. and the gold accented ones had l98's. and one l98 car i picked up was black with gold accents, but also had the black interior. not the tan. i personaly like the silver accents best. my ideal iroc that i would pay good money for would be a blue, silver accents, black interior

 

The reason you haven't seen another like yours is because your is not factory. What color are the rim? If they are gold, then the original striping at the bottom was also black/gold, not red/black. The red/black stripe should have a red IROC-Z door decal with silver rims.

 

I agree with your tastes. I love the blue/gold IROC. Only one I ever saw was back in the summer of 1986. A friend of mine's car dealer had one, a 1986 model, and he used to drive it. It was very, very sharp in person. Haven't seen one since so I assume it's pretty rare. I also like that white with yellow/silver. Was that 1989-90 only?

 

I know that it is original for 1988 and 1989 since both of my white Iroc convertibles were ordered with that yellow/silver stripping combination. I haven't seen another with this combination on the road, only in pictures.

Yeah I see now. My car looks just like that. I just have gold iroc-z decals on my doors and a gold lettering where it says camaro on the grill. I've got a grey cloth/leather interior too. I knew my car wasn't all original when I got it. I know the drivers door is not the original one. Has a different vin number than all the other parts on the car.

 

My 89 IROC is a DX3 stripe delete, flame red L98 with grey leather cloth interior and grey wheels. However the stripe kit may have been dealer installed and they put the gold kit on it. There's a tag next to my service parts id decal, the dealer might have put there.The original owner also had gold and black pin stripes around the hood louvers. If not for those stripes I'd prefer silver and black stripes, but it's original paint and I wouldn't want to try and remove them.

 

Almost all the IROCs I see have the silver accents and decals. The ones that I think are the most rare are the ones with the colored decals, such as red. The gold not so much, could just be my area though (VERY few thirdgens around Eastern WA)

 

I know this is an old post.. But I've been wondering about this ever sense I bought my 88 Iroc it's red with the gold pakage it has the matching interior and rims along with camaro written in gold on the front facia and t-tops 4whl disc and the bose speaker pakage that folds down in the rear hatch along with the 5.7 l98 with tpi.. I owned an 89 before that had all these options but wasn't gold I'd never even seen one tell I bought this one does anyone know how rare it is.. Thanks

 

I hardly ever see a camaro with the gold wheels and stripes. Most I see have the silver wheels. I have the correct color combos on my iroc to get the gold pkg but I have seen flame red camaros without it.

 

Wow!!!! I like your Iroc that is a nice color along with leather/fabric seats pretty nice combo package.. Ya mine is the bright red it's still kinda rough it needs paint as soon as I figure how to upload some pics I will post some of it... It was an amazing find I picked it up in Lake havasu AZ for only $500 the engines locked up but it's all numbers matching.. I got another l98 to put in it while I try to have the other engine rebuilt

 

"our" color combo is very rare. Several bright red w/gold 85-87 cars, but FAR fewer 88-90 with bright red and gold. At least from the members on TGO that I'm aware of, the only more "rare" combo would be silver 85's, and maybe 88 sunset orange cars. Black w/blue stripes is pretty rare too, as is white w/yellow silver stripes. As for ours, there's another guy on TGO with one, although I can't remember his name now, and that's about it. There was also a vert that I had tabs on for awhile, but I lost touch with the guy. in the 89 brochure, there's a T top car like mine. Not many though.

 

Holly crap.. Yours is beautiful and it looks exactly like mine should when I get done with it I will try and post pics a.s.a.p I thought it was rare. I have had quite a few 3rd gens I also had a 89 red iroc with same options but it was red and silver.... I also have a white 92 gta.. even know my 88 needs some paint and a dash and the engine rebuilt it's a real nice find especially sence I only paid $500 for it... I will get pics up soon..
