87 IROC restoration
Bought this IROC off a local guy, picking it up saturday . Its been off the road since 2006, but it did run when I looked at it (for a few seconds), just needs the fuel pump replaced. Floors are rusty, interior is pretty good for 140K and 90% of all the power options worked. The guy kept lowering the price until I couldn't say no anymore . I'm hoping the floors aren't too bad . It was pouring when I went to see it . The car looks to be pretty heavily optioned for an 87 .

Couple more pics . This is one of the only IROCs I can remember seeing that had the Bose system in it.

Re: 87 IROC restoration
Especially with leather. But why do you think it's a 350? With t-tops it should be a 305.
The tops of those back seats looks strangely shrunk up
. It's gonna take some elbow grease to clean it up though, looks like it could be a little moldy.

Re: 87 IROC restoration
It is a L98 car. Its definitely going to need lots of work. Once I get it running, I'm going to strip the interior, hopefully replace the floors & carpet, then t-top seals and probably get it painted next year if everything works out .

Re: 87 IROC restoration
I thought you couldn't get a 350 with t-tops in '87? Unless maybe it was a Canadian car?

Re: 87 IROC restoration
You could get a Camaro with an L98 from '87-'89 in an IROC. From '90-'92 You could only get the L98 in a hardtop Z28.
Re: 87 IROC restoration
Those seats are not the correct seats for this car. Without looking for the RPO, the leather seats in 87 had a diagonal stitching across the seat backs. Looks like they also custom did the door panels.

Re: 87 IROC restoration
The guy I was buying the car from said something about the seats, but I have no idea what they're from . I like them though .

Looks seriously neglected, but I'll bet it was ridiculously nice when it was new! Well-optioned and everything looks to be there. Nice find.

Re: 87 IROC restoration
That car will be nice when you are done restoring it. There are not to many L98 yellow IROC's around now.
Those seats are tan leather and have the style from a '90-'92 camaro.
Those leather door panels are from a '90-'92 camaro as well.
The arm rest on the doors look like ones from an '82-'87 camaro.

Re: 87 IROC restoration
UPDATE :
Car runs & drives. Had to have the gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump & filter replaced. Have to replace a broken brake line (front to rear), hopefully only 1 . Once thats done and I can get it back home, I will start on replacing the brakes ( calipers, rotors & pads), take the interior out and clean the 6 years of dirt off of it .
