Looking for some info on this car have never seen another one like it in color wise Its a 85 or 86 cant remember which. Maybe some lead on how many of this color were made and what the color is?

I can say its a Z28. Not an IROC-Z. Are there more pics of the car? The third brake light would give away the year...

 

I may have not a very good one but I would have to scan it then post it just didn't know if anyone knew about the color scheme never seen another one quite like it

 

Its been repainted if its a monotone grey Z28. Monotone Z28s were never offered unless they had the IROC package...that car should have silver ground effects.

 

It was my fathers car growing up and he said it was an 85 z28 with the iroc package didn't know if it was an 85 though but I have been looking and I can't seem to find one of the same color

Unfortunately, your dad's old car was not an IROC...it was a regular Z28. IROCs had fog lights and 16" wheels...those are the smaller 15s.

It happens a lot...someone adds IROC door stripes to a Z28, or even an RS sometimes, and voila...the next owner thinks they have an IROC when they don't.

 

the car in the pic Is a Z28 without the fog lights & with t-tops, I don't recall that color in earlier Irocs, I know in '1988 it was called medium gray metallic and it was available in the Iroc since there was no Z28 in '88. It could just be a Z28 painted so.

 

Didn't the Z28's have fog lights too? I'm not sure exactly what it is.

A lot of mixed signals here from the pic. once you repaint a car, it could be anything. My car has things on it ranging from 87 to 92

 

In '85 & '86 fog lamps were an option on the Z28's (RPO T96).

The OP never said the car was an IROC-Z, so let's let that go. The car is a Z28 in medium grey metallic and probably was not repainted.

A lot of what was just described as an IROC came standard or was available on the Z28 also. The fog lights on the 85-87 Z28s were optional, all Z28s had black headlight buckets, leather steering wheel and optional TPI engines.

There were Z28s in 1988. From 85-90, all IROC-Zs were Z28s, but from 85-87, not all Z28s were IROC-Zs. The 1985-87 cars had Z28s with the IROC-Z appearance package. All 1988-90 Z28s came with the IROC-Z appearance as standard. The 85-87 cars required RPO B4Z for the IROC-Z image. Many people think the Z28 went away in 1988, when in reality, the IROC-Z RPO (B4Z) went away and if you wanted an IROC-Z, you ordered RPO Z28.

That car is an 86, the color is 84, medium grey metallic. The medium grey metallic was available with charcoal ground effects and charcoal rims with dark red interior and red stripes. That color combo was not available in 85.

 

I am having same problem just. Bought it a week ago said it was iroc z28 but changed engine to a 350 and it's completely primer down has third break light up like 86 but trunk has different key then door does?? And inside door jam is a dark red almost Burgundy?? Has iroc Hood and side flars any help

 

Start a new thread for your car. Also, please try researching some of this on your own through this board. There are multiple posts explaining how to tell the difference between the cars.

No need to apologize. I just think you'll get more responses by asking these questions in your own thread rather than in one asking if anyone is familiar with this car. My suggestion to research it is also for your own knowledge as you will find all of the answers and then some! There are many posts about it and the spotter's guide listed above should also provide a lot of info. David brought it to my attention that this color combination was available in 1985. I rechecked my documentation and found that my comment about this car being an 86 only is incorrect. This color combination appears to have been an 85 or an 86 setup.
