Back in 2010 I sold my 1987 camaro while going through a divorce, after owning it for 12 years. Once I sold the car I knew I made a bad decision, missed it more than my ex wife. But who wouldn't right! Anyway my girlfriend found it on craigslist over the weekend about an hour away from where we live. Paid a little more than I wanted to but I had to get it back, so we drove up there with the car hauler and pulled it home last night.

The guy who bought it from me sold it to the guy I bought it from, sadly he trashed the car. Took it off road and put it in the ditch caving in the passenger side fender and covering the underbody in mud. Also the paint is sun baked and cracking, the interior was torn apart. When I had the car it was flawless, beautiful paint and mint interior. I just don't understand some people... oh well, got something to do now since the IROC is almost finished. Time for another project! Here is was it looks like now, the other pic is when I had it before.

Have any of you located your first f-body and bought it back?

that's great you got her back. it is sad how people can mess a car up in 2 years. I sold my first car also an 87 Camaro to my best friend in 2008. I said if he ever wanted to sell it i want first dibs. I bought it back last year.

 

Looks like its missing its engine and/or transmission by how high the front end is sitting?

I still have my 87' Sport coupe but its so rusty. Been in my family since new, part of me wants to restore it, part of me says its done its time time to let it go.

 

That is awesome that you found it! I sold my first car, 85 sport coupe after a couple years of having the Z28. Really wish I would have kept it now. I'm looking for another sport coupe to use as a warm weather daily driver now!

 

Cool story man, glad you got her back. Back in 2004 I sold my totaly custom 95 Mustang to my younger brother that lives in FL-it was his first car. he trashed it, wrecked it and then traded it to a dude for a lifted POS truck. back in 2007 I talked to the kid that had it about buying it back, but the trans was blown, bald tires and still wrecked and it was 14 hours away-plus he wanted crazy money for it-sadly I had to pass. Hope you get her back up to par.

 

Aw man I know the feeling. Sold my first 91 firebird in jan to finance my new one (formula 350). The guy I sold it to has done some work to it, and now he's trying to get rid of it. He actually only wants $100 more than I sold it to him for and he's throwing in headers, a carb and intake, and he did a new radiator, shocks and struts, and a couple other things. I'm pretty torn between buying it back or not. I miss that car, and winter's coming... I'd hate to see my formula get hit by some douche in the snow. this one's body is already kinda rough so it wouldn't hurt my feeling at all to get another dent haha. But it's got almost 200k on the clock and the trans wasn't doing so hot when I sold it to him. decisions, decisions....

 

Thats one awesome sport coupe you got there!!! You had it in great shape, and usually the idiot whom you make the sale will trash or wreck your gem. I know cause I sold a mint 91 RS to a chump kid whom wrecked after 2 months of owning it. Is it a 5 speed and what engine do you have? I love to autocross my 89!!! It rips those corners like no fox body can unless they put rails on it to fix there granny tune suspension lol

 

It's missing the motor and trans, was originally a LG4 auto car but i swapped to a T-5 before I sold it. It's getting a single turbo LSX and M6 trans. Can't wait to get started on it...
