87 speedometer

I bought an 87 z28, not an iroc, a few months ago. It has an 85 mph speedometer and I'm not sure if this was origional. Did these cars have a 145 or 85? I have found on several Internet source that says different things. It only has 56,000 miles so that's why I questioned. The car is in good enough shape to be that low of miles but I just wanted to ask you guys. Also I bought the car for 3500. It has the 305 rebuilt, ttops, all origional interior (except for the questioned cluster) in very good shape, it has been repainted but I still looks nice. Newer z28 spoiler. Power antenna. I also noticed it has iroc badges on the trim? It didn't bother me though because I liked the silver color against the black car. So I thought it was a good deal, what do you guys think? Also I have my brothers 79 z28 wheels on in one picture. How do you like them?

Re: 87 speedometer

I have been looking at alot of 3rd Gen Camaro's the last month and I drove an 86 Z28 Lg4 and it had the 14o or 145 mph speedo in it. I know it was not 85mph.

Re: 87 speedometer

Sweet! 85 mph is what came with mine... just replace with another cluster and you're good to go. I like the stock wheels but the others are cool too.

Re: 87 speedometer

in 87...
L98 & LB9 cars came with the 145 Mph, &
LG4 & V6 Cars came with the 85 Mph

NOTE: 88+ is not the same as 87, later years are a little more complicated...
