How odd is this car?
Guy's I know you all hate to use the word rare so I did not LOL! Anyways I have been looking for a second 3rd gen to drive and mess around with-going to leave my TA alone for awhile. So I found what I think is an odd ball car. It's looks very beat in the pix and only has 70K on it, but again looks beat, I have not seen it yet in person-maybe today? So the car in question is an 83 SC T-top iron duke auto trans. Don't know much more about it yet. The guy has owned it 20 years and got it from the original female owner. Say it has been garage kept and no winters, but yet is has some rust. He's asking $1200 neg and it's only 20 mins from my houes so even if I hate the car it will be neat to see. So how odd is this car?

Sounds pretty rare, it me.
I have only ever seen one iron duke third gen. I know they are out there, but I've only seen one. And i've looked at a ton of third gens.
As far as the trans, again I'm not sure if most Iron dukes had sticks or autos. The one I saw was a stick, IIRC.

Re: How odd is this car?
The point is you never see them around and it would be neat to have a non run of the mill car-no it's not a fast car, you could run faster. I just called the guy and the car is still at the shop and they have not had a chance to look at it. He said the other day on the freeway he hit the rumble strip and the vibation must have knocked something loose since the car died right after. He put a coil on it and it still did not start so it's at a shop. From the looks of the pix I'm going to think the car is too rough for his asking price, but you never know.

Well I never got to go look at the car has it's still in the shop and I found and bought a 92 RS last night. For the price differance the RS was a no brainer-it's a dirver/fixer and looks nice, the 83 just looked about 3 wheels in the grave from the pix. If any one was to call on it or see the link go to Cleaveland OH craigslist and spell Camaro (Camero) and the listing will pop up people can't spell Camaro LOL!

Thats a POS! 18 years, mostly garage kept? Yeah right. Mostly sitting in the woods like the pic os more like it.
I could certianly see getting and saving an Iron Duke 3rd gen if it was worth saving.

Iv'e seen many iron duke firebirds, I think they got like 34mpg or so. That was why they sold them. Many people like the sporty-ness about them, but did not care about performance. To me, they are perfect pro street, race car type builds.

Re: How odd is this car?
Like I said I thought it would be a neat car to have, but also I wanted a drivers and that car looked like a ton for work, the guys said it was running and driveing god till it broke down, My RS is more of what I was looking for anyways and needs alot less work. I'm not sure how cheap the guy would let it got for, but I have a feeling it's not going to be super cheap.
